    • Rendering a scene with an element showing video

      Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible with Sketchup and other plugs in (such as Vray) to render a still scene with video playing in one of the elements in the scene?

An example of this would be to render a model of a display unit with product on a shelf and a screen behind it, playing some sort of video behind the product. I was wondering if you can import a video format or a sequence of images into sketchup and then rendering it so that it is animated.
      Thanks for reading.

    • RE: How to impress with Sketchup

It would be a great program for computer classes. I dunno what they teach kids now in computer class, but I'll I remember from my youth was "Number Munchers" and "Oregon Trail"
It just depends on what kinda things the kids would model, they would probably have more fun building monsters and vehicles like how the game spores is designed.

    • RE: Proper animation for sketchup 7??

Hey.. I think I got it! 😍 you have to set your component axis to the hinge point! omg finally! I tried it and it worked if I wanted an object to have a rotation point from the center, then that object has to have a component with its axis set up at that point!

Thanks for your help! I did solve it by looking more closely at your file.

    • RE: 3D warehouse chating?

haha, I totally read this thread title wrong. I read it like "3D warehouse, cheating?"

Unlike a normal person who would realize that they misread the title from reading the first two posts, I was still like "what? you want to contact the owner, to say that you are stealing his material?"

...no I am not crazy.. I swear.

      Thanks for the reference!
I get how it works now, at the same time it didn't work for what I wanted to do. As you can see now for my avatar, I modeled a sentry gun from TeamFortress2 (cuz I love that game so much) and wanted to animated it so the body would rotate from left to right. The Proper Animation couldn't create a fixed center pt for rotation. Nevertheless this is a cool plug-in for other applications. I'm looking at SketchyPhysics now.

    • RE: Proper animation for sketchup 7??

      Hi y'all!
      111!
I can't figure out how to work this plugin, can anyone give me a more thorough breakdown on how it works? I'm using Google Sketchup 6.

I tried the above posters process of tagging object as "Set Position 1" for the first scene and then moving the object across red axis and then tagging it as "Set Position 2" and then updating scene two.

When I click scene 1 again the object doesn't go back to Position 1, and I'm not sure where Start Animation Observer and Stop Animation Observer comes in 😞 I read the txt file provided with the download and opened the "Boxes 2" skp file from the download, but for that file I didn't see an animation when I clicked view animation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm quiet confused right now.

      Thanks!
