Hi Emy, I'd have to recommend staying away from any ruby scripting until you are familiar with SU. Not many people really ever get into it. As for smooth transitions, that is a little bit tricky sometimes. The main thing to do is try to keep the distance between all scenes approximately the same. And dont have any sudden camera u-turns. You can right click on a scene and choose "play animation" and it will try to play your animation for you. This can help get a beter feel for the animation before you take the time to export it. Also, try exporting it at a low resolution with a low frame rate (15 for example). This helps make a quick render of your movie, that you can check to see if your camera passes through walls, or is too jerky ever. Those are the main things you can really do to help make a slightly smoother movie. Try that and see if you make any progress. Chris

@jean lemire said: However, I made a test and created a group containing a rectangle with a dimensioned side. When I select the group from the outliner, only the dimension shows. The rectangle stays invisible. This is strange and meybe is a bug. That's the behaviour I tried to describe. We run into the problem all the time, because the group containing a dimension is part of the procedure that we developed for our designs. Have a look at the thread Scaling of distorted ground floor layout and you'll understand how we arrived at seeing these weird dimensions.

Thanks everyone for your replies, they were helpful. I checked this with 'components' box and used a couple of items everything worked as I tested them out. What happened I don't know but its O K now. The second item was a simple mistake. The way I asked the question was wrong, (right click), I didn't use it like I said, sorry for that. But I did have a problem with [num],'x' and [num], '/' they didn't work. but with your help I went backand checked again very carefully and found my mistake. I put the 1st component down them 'movement +', click, copy was printed. With the num + or / I moved the 2nd to a position and clicked ONCE but did not remove the cursor from the second component but just entered the number and + or / then return and it worked. One click too many was my mistake. therefore any questions you answer or tutorials looked at it pays to look at the answer again but with scrutiny, its easy to miss small points. Thank you. John John

i suspect it was something like a cube on a flat surface, where the bottom face of the cube was a shared face with the surface under it, therefore it couldn't move up. when you group it it separates the geometry from anything else.

Hm. This is interesting info - thanks for coming back with it. My antivirus software also has "Gaming mode" never known what the heck it is. (However it is turned on as I have now checked.)

Hi Gaieus, problem solved, weird, but after downloading Fredoscale, shapes, parametric & mesh additions had disappeared from plug ins, I found them in the trash (although I didn't put them there!), when I dragged them back to plugins, lo and behold, I now have shapes in my draw menu! So they will keep me busy for a while.....

@dedonnan said: Can you make parts, then use the parts to make assemblies(mechanical), like you can in other 3d programs? Thank you, Dave you can make components and put as many together as you want similar to an assembly type workflow. its can just be a little harder to align them since there are no mathematical relationships in SU. but by all means you can build libraries of parts.

My interpretation of your question is: You have a series of line segments touching end to end and you want them to be one line segment. If this is correct, you might want to look at the Weld plugin. Why did I think this? Because you said "connect". If this is incorrect, ignore this reply. Best wishes.
