      Can you make parts, then use the parts to make assemblies(mechanical), like you can in other 3d programs?

        Not sure exactly what you mean, but you can model parts, and then have them function mechanically using Sketchy Physics. If you're looking for something like SolidWorks, I'm afraid Sketchup isn't as complex nor as functional.

          you can make components and put as many together as you want similar to an assembly type workflow. 😉 its can just be a little harder to align them since there are no mathematical relationships in SU. but by all means you can build libraries of parts. 😄
