Hi folks. Also, if you read the message in the status bar after selecting the Smoove Tool, you will read: Click to select the base point of the smoove or type a new radius for the smoove. Also, the Measurement Window is labelled Radius with a value in it. Not to mention this page that I found using the Help Menu: http://help.sketchup.com/en/search/sketchup/smoove%20tool Just ideas.

You'll learn. You are sort of jumping in with both feet. There are tutorials and so on, you know. But these are really simple models. It'll begin to make sense after a while. Look for the translucent materials by opening the Materials window and choosing Texture Palettes. pull down the menu and choose "Translucent".

Okay well I've just checked firewall settings and they are fine, no security issues whatsoever, however I still end up with a blank window for the 3Dwarehouse, which oddly... [image: Su14screenshotblankwarehouse.png] The Extensions Warehouse loads perfectly fine for me. [image: Su14screenshotExtensionswarehouseseemsfine.png] Any ideas as to what is going on, is it anything that I can change on my user end that wouldn't require a re-download of SU14, program uninstall, re-install, and all that hassle? Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

So it sounds like you do not store your Components on disc, but just keep them in-model? I'd be afraid a crash could cause the model and all components to be lost.

A lot of time has passed since I started this thread. As an update, I want to mention that the latest version of Jonathan's (aka "Marginal") SU2XP plugin for SketchUp now does an excellent job of animating SketchUp models to make rotations, movements (translations), smoke, lights, etc. It is doing everything I want it to do so far. if you have the perimeter of the plat you can push pull it up as a face and then intersect out the excess.

@cotty said: You can use the VCB to specify the offset (see page 13). I know this. But this is not what I want to ask. You can see that after push/pull a curved surface, distance between a point in new created face and its origin in old surface is not equal to offset. I think that it may be more accurate if we could make offset 'mean' the distance between these point. I not sure and am asking for opinion.

Jeff used the standard intersection (right click menu), not the solid tools.

The entities that made up the initial component would most likely be part of a larger structure, and not fully standalone. Exploding the comp puts the entities back in place so to speak. But if it were a standalone object, then yes, there would be no need to explode it.

@jerrymich said: So, the new sketchup plugins folder should be empty? Not quite empty. There are some plugins whose names start with "su" that should be in there. They are packed with SketchUp. If you delete the folder altogether or empty it, SketchUp will repopulate it with those plugins the next time it starts. Bear in mind, this Plugins folder is the one under User/AppData... that's the only Plugins folder you should be messing with. If you let the Sketchucation Plugin Store and Extension Warehouse handle installing plugins, you shouldn't really have any need to go to that folder directly.

Thank Cotty and Krisidious for the tools information I can use all I can get, I want to learn to model cleanly. Krisidious Thanks for liking the house, I wanted to try a style I have not seen modeled a million times already. I'm going to add the landscaping and pool next.

There are several tools that will reform a set of linked edges, arcs or curves into a single 'curve' entity. The original oldie 'weld' is available from Smustard.com [with several prompts as it processes the selection] Several other tools have something similar as part of a broader toolset... My own "TIG-weld" is available in the SCF PluginStore - it just does the one prompt-free 'welding' job on suitable preselected line/curve sets. http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG-weld

It could be a Graphics Card problem. What is your Graphics Card ? Have you downloaded the latest Drivers for your Graphics Card ? If not, then try to get and install updates - new OS's often require new drivers... Also try SketchUp menu Windows > Preferences > OpenGl and try permutations of the settings to see which gives the best display visual-affects...

In PC versions older than v2014 there are often issues with security permissions to the Plugins too... See this on how to set it up properly for v8 http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/36-intermediate/811-setting-security-permissions-in-sketchup In v2014 the folder should automatically be made by SketchUp for each User, with FULL permissions... The Plugins > SketchUcation fool at the end of the list will open the Plugins folder for you so you can actually see what is installed - although you should never need to manually mess with its contents if you use the AutoInstall features available to you...
