I figured out what the problem was eventually lol ... I didn't hit "weld". As soon as I blew up the shape (as just a line) and hit "weld", the follow me tool worked out. Just wanted to follow up in case anyone else had issues like this...

I'll try your first suggestion next... I've tried round corner too and it didn't seem to work. I think the shape may be too thin or something. Anyway, thank you for the suggestion!

Is there a way to make this shape look rounded instead of square? I've tried the follow me tool using a circle, but I think the shape might be too complex? Maybe I need a special plugin?

Thanks Dave! That's good to know... you can never be too cautious making purchases online these days... Anyway, thanks so much for explaining what happened. It felt like I had that plug-in for a while so, I didn't even know it was a trial.

I feel silly asking this, but for the first time today, I've received a notice that some of my plug-ins were expired (like the joint push pull... said the trial was over). When I tried to update, I was asked to pay a fee for one plug-in. Has sketchup always charged for each plug-in or is this something new? I just want to make sure this is legit before I hand over any money.

And if this is right, what's the best way to buy plug-ins? In a bundle? Or one at a time?

HornOxx, thanks for the help! I tried your suggested plug-in and it did work, however, now it will not let me raise and lower the edges... I'd like for the shape to have these angles, not a flat top. I've attached screen capture... is there another plug-in for that? How would I raise and lower the edges to create angles on this shape?

Hi there! I created this winding shape in Illustrator and now I'm trying to develop it further and render it in Sketchup. It's proving to be much more complex than I realized. Any ideas on how I might go about this? What plug-ins should I use for a design like this? Any videos that would be helpful? Please see the attached screen captures (one of them is a plan view, the other a front view).

(EDIT): I've already started and tried to build this shape piece by piece (see attachment), but I keep getting these weird edges and I want the "winding" path to be smooth.

Hi! I'm relatively new to Sketchup and I'm working with a sandbox mesh grid. I've developed some hills with my mesh but I now realize that I need to add more "land area" to it and also manipulate the shape a bit more... I've made the area bigger with the move tool and now I'd like know if there's an easy way to add more mesh lines to the grid that I already started but can't seem to find any answers on how I would do that. Do I just need to add lines to it manually with the line tool or is there an easier, more automatic way to do this? I'm using Sketchup Pro 2020 by the way and have attached a screen capture.
