In this case the reason is: The sketchucation site uses PhpBB engine for the forums and Joomla CMS for all the other content including the pluginstore. They are bridged together so when you log in to one of them you're also logged in to the other one as well. A major factor for the performance of the Joomla side is the number of simultaneously logged in people. The more people are logged in at the same time the slower the Joomla part of the site becomes. This slowdown is especially significant in case of more than about 50 000 simultaneously logged in users. To prevent this from happening we set a 6 hours timeout at the Joomla part of the site. It means that if you weren't active at the Joomla part for 6 hours you'll be automatically logged out from it while still logged in to PhpBB (forums). We'll try to find a solution for this at the new version of the site (under development). Until then when you remain inactive at the Joomla side of the site for more than 6 hours you need to log in again. I hope the above answers your question.

The banner-ads are set up by a third-party specialist, using a SketchUp/CAD/Rendering/Graphics list of related products. SCF have no control of what they show - although we can whinge when non-relevant things sneak in. I am surprised that a 'defunct' product is included by them - since they'll not get any revenue [no matter how minuscule it is per-view], and neither will SCF ! I'm sure Rich will be on to it !

You need to register for your desired specialist forums. German [Deutsch] is one of those... It is explained in the last section of the forums page, and as it says you join using the Settings > User Control Panel > Usergroups...

TIG, that worked! Thank you very much! I had cleared some things from my computers cache before while attempting to fix this problem but not from my browser's history/cache/cookies.

A temporary fix is done with the new API. It is functional again - just some redesign of the results page is now needed. We will do it later this week. Thank you for pointing out this issue...

But still, imagine someone who captures my credentials and start doing things on my behalf that would compromise your site or whatever... This I don't like.
