It might be a useful added extra income for the site, not for me personally but those profesionals who do use the site might benefit as well as the site finances.

Thanks for the explanation, much appreciated. My problem is that I see the proliferation of 'magnetic or electronic' money as a potential minefield should the recovering financial market go south again due to the rampant greed of financiers, bitcoin could become a scapegoat and may even be a source of current money laundering acitivities. All this will leave govenment and banking execs using is as a sacrificial lamb/scapegoat. Frightening when you think about it. Just take a look at how various nations are treating the so called recovery of housing markets.......

You can also look at freelancer websites - as you will find people there who are looking for specific work. I had reasonable success with guru.com when I was starting out and didn't have enough work. I found and established several solid long-term clients through there. My other advice is networking. All my work currently is from established clients and referrals.

Also the same user can have multiple versions installed. Instead of automatically showing what the user profile says the user can write the version used in the post if it matters.

The goal of this "login popup" is to inform new visitors about the membership options and to make it obvious for them that they should register as a member to be able to use all the features of SketchUcation.

It was set in a way that it popped up only for not logged in visitors hourly. So if some not logged in user visited the site again after an hour he/she got the popup again until he registered/logged in.

I do understand that this could be annoying to frequent user members who do use direct-links to access the site. Therefore now I changed the repetition time from an hour to 1 week. So if you do not erase your cookies now you won't see again this popup for a week.

I'll also check what can I do to get rid of this box in case of mobile devices.

I would prefer a combination of:

allways visible pictograms for OS, SU-version and license, level (like PM, web, ...) dropdown for the rest

I agree. Sorry, I should have been more constructive in my original post. The current way is also not mobile-friendly.

Just a heads up, "Surf with caution rating" on bootstrapcdn.com at http://www.avgthreatlabs.com/website-safety-reports/domain/bootstrapcdn.com

Have to ask again, is it really needed to use so much 3rd party scripts with sketchucation? The site is on the top5 tech site I do use, but I really wish that site itself where build so that there are less options for cross-site scripting attacks.

About the voting on some mealier post. I don't think this is a matter of voting (For website is a question how site owner considers security to be important with relations to it's customers), as it's so easy to cast a vote by just based on a feeling. But like I in opening post warned, there been security issues with bootstrapcdn.com and now month later the site is rated "Surf with caution rating". For me it stays blocked by no script...

There also 3rd party scripts from metacdn.com that luckily seems to have a better record with safety, but blocking those scripts will break forum... so I am now in a situation, where I need to consider if sketchucation is more important for me than security I tend to keep when surfing the web. No judgement yet... but for last months track is not good in that are of the site.

    Yes definitively ,
I am even ready to show my face in my avatar if the thumbs down are eliminated .

Ah , OK , this silence from Rich O Brien , author of this thread , makes me wonder and makes me feel that this place is no longer a friendly place for me .

    Bye Bye Crew .
