Another trick is to use the Section Tool, as follows: 'cut' the geometry; map the rectangular cutting plane to any orientation by rotating successively as desired; and, with the rectangular cutting plane selected, Right-Click and choose the option to "Align View" It's a work-around but it does what's necessary. Cheers, . Diego.

Have you tried exporting via LayOut? Apparently it can export better than SketchUp.

got two more e-mails today... both identical, with my key info... @unknownuser said: "Hi Kristoff, Thanks for contacting Google SketchUp. We regret to hear you never received your license information via email. Our records show that your license was sent out automatically following your purchase. Please note that the license information template we send out contains executable links to our product download and may be getting flagged as spam by your internet service provider. Below is the license information again without the links. We recommend adding our email address domain of @sketchup.com to your white list to ensure you receive future emails from the SketchUp team." yeah I knew that it may be flagged as spam, but I actively and daily check my spam folders because lots of things I want go in there... and it never came. what irks me is they had a specific box to declare an e-mail addy that I wanted the license info sent to along with whatever addy they had on file... and I filled it in. I expect more from Google, they're too big to make these little mistakes. thanks for listening to me vent. so anyway... all is well in my world and I'm now SketchUp 8 Pro... now I'll be hitting a couple of Plugin Developer's donation boxes to complete my Christmas support of the modeling world.

+1 It also affects the Auto-save which makes the feature troublesome as it causes SU to become unresponsive while it autosaves.

Google, you should also read this! http://www.tomsguide.com/us/iPad-Avatar-autodesk-Maya-3ds-Max,news-8838.html @unknownuser said: Autodesk has been around for a long time, offering well-known platforms including AutoCAD, Maya, 3ds Max and many others. The company also provides iOS version including AutoCAD WS, Inventor Publisher Mobile Viewer, Fluid FX, and SketchBook Mobile. While Bass didn't provide numbers regarding the SketchBook app, he said it was a "big hit." "We've been in the business for 28 years, and 10-12 million copies of our software have been purchased to date," Bass said. "That's a lot, but it's only an average of 11 million over all the years, and all of a sudden half a million people bought the software at the application store. This was the cheapest project we ever did, which reached more people than any other project. It surprised me."

I believe that SU8 broke some stipple abilities with construction lines - at least that is what is reported here: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=32730

Steve, I took a quick look at LandFX's pages, and from what I understand, the SU to Acad and back via LandFX only works with the planting models that are in the LandFX libraries. If so, I can think of 2 ways to swap non LandFX library elements. One way is to build, and place the element into the LandFX library. The other is to use SU's import dwg or dxf files of that element directly from Acad as a block.

Thanks, Jeff, this looks like just the ticket. However, I can't help wondering why a tool that's smart enough to know that my group is not a solid can't highlight the reason why and offer the option to fix it. Once again, a plugin patches the program. Somewhat disillusioned, Jim

@gaieus said: @jgb said: ...Is SU-8 out now? http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=30490 Yeah, all the good stuff (solids particularly) is $$$$$ At least V8-Pro is cheaper than V7-Pro was at introduction. Still a major chunk of change for what is a retired old farts hobby. But, I may give V8-Pro some very serious consideration. I will most likely upload V8-Free for now, as I am truly fed up with V6's shortcomings, most of which are NOT FIXED in V8 still.

There is great ArchViz possibility in Unity

hi, you don't have to draw lines to measure from the center point to the steel plate edge. Start dimension, constrain the first point to the center of the circle and click, for the 2nd point, lock into a surface plane and move the curser to the edge of the steel plate and let the mouse pop over to a corner of the plate and click again. So drag your mouse around and orient the still dynamic dimension where you want it. [image: jOja_dimensiontocenter.JPG]

+1 And be able to get thumbnail and details - not either or. Having text and images at the same time allows the eye to scan better.
