Tim I have a three scaling option Toolbar. Opt #1, Scale-up by 25%, scale down by 80%. Notice the upscale and the downscale are different. As an example, if you scale up an object that is 100 inches long by 25%, your object is now 125 inches long. Now to get back to the exact size, you need to scale down by only 80% of the new size of the model. However, to scale up by 100% you only need to scale up by 2. And to recover your old size scale down by 50% or .5000 Opt #2 up by 100% down by 50%, to return to the original size. Opt #3 up by 1.001% down by .999000999. Now, this is exact enough for what I do, however after a while, you will notice the inaccuracies of the up and downscaling. trans=Geom::Transformation.scaling(center, 1.001) trans=Geom::Transformation.scaling(center, 0.999000999) When plugins where much easier to make, I could modify the plugins for my use. However, I can't or won't give out the plugins as they have been modified, and the original are not my creation. I just wanted to show you that your perception of scaling won't work. "A simple way around this would be a one-button plug-in that scales the model x1000 and centres it in the viewport. Then, after doing the modelling, clicking the button would scale the model by 0.001 and centre it in the viewport."

iMac related question. Are you running the i5 version or did you upgrade to the i7? In the process of buying a iMac and wondering if the new i7 upgrade is necessary.

@tim danaher said: Nice stuff, fuzzion... what plug-ins did you use (if any) to get the beveled cut-outs on the red waste bin? As for the job, yes, it's great fun, but it's only two hours a week (due to some bullshit German employment law). Also, it's definitely for beginners.. I can't confuse them with plugins... the basic toolset seems to be confusing them enough... Mein naam is Yoshua (That’s all I know hahaha) It was made with Round Corner by our whiz kid fredo I had to limit the number of sides on the chamber because once I tried having 40 sides on an edge that was 5mm in breadth, the mesh edge formed minor deformities. I think the most important tool for product design is SDS by Whaat. The entire Chrio chair was made by SDS . In fact, if SU got rid of all the plugins except for the ability to draw straight lines, I reckon I could still make almost anything. And at $22usd with the current exchange rates, it is a steal! I really think you would find it hard to compose industrial designs without SDS since subdivision is bread and butter of the automotive industry and perhaps many others. *Yes im salivating at the new SDS2...Two words for it - Holy Cow !

I use a few ruby scripts to match the cameras between sketchup and renders. I don't recall the exact names, camera controls? to get the tilt, pan and rotation. I also use a script that places a construction point at the position of the cameras. I then draw a tiny circle at the point and paint a material named camera# onto that circle. When I go into whatever render I am using usually Vue.( I can't get the script for Vue cameras to work) I place a camera at the position of the tiny circle that I exported with the model. I then adjust the camera orientation based on my camera settings I read from camera controls. I use the field of view setting from sketchup. Depending on the render you might need to adjust the angles of the camera. If camera control script said the camera was at -30 degrees you might have to enter it as 330 degrees in the render. Hope that helps.

I am a contractor and I have heard the term "gone off" before or in the more active and immediate sense "it's going off". I would say it is not even that uncommon. When it is used I would say it is taken to mean the concrete has achieved its initial set where the surface can still be worked to achieve a more polished finish but its liquid characteristics are gone. More often than not it is said with a bit of panic because there is more work to be done. I have lived in New England and the Southwest if that helps. I wouldn't think the term was out of place if I read it in the above context.

in Spanish the word "Maqueta" was used frequently. Although i went to school in the states and i am more familiar with the term partii, be it a model or a drawing as marvins_dad suggests, as the more common term.

hello, the probleme is that the start face and the end face aren t parallele see picture. [image: Q48M_Clipboard01.jpg] first solution : align bottom edge whit top edge : second solution : make a component, copy and scale x10, push pull through the end face, select the end face and the cylinder, intersect whit selected, clean up and erase the big one (component) : [image: Ijby_Clipboard06.jpg] hope it helps Inges_Problem_Orig.skp

But that works only if any "little segments" of curves are no vertical! And this is not evident if you have some curves corners!

There are exceptions and if an exception has its meaningful explanation, the students should understand and accept those exceptions. After the intersection and clean-up, you can safely scale the model back (like I did in the attached file). This won't contradict with the "general rule" either as you end up with a 1:1 scale model just have used a trick to come around an OpenGL limitation.

Actually, I'm on the Beta team, so I've gone through that channel. I only have Sticky Keys enabled under UA. But turning off 'Enable Access for Assistive Devices' seems to do the trick. I think. Trouble is, that messes up my window switcher, 'witch' relies on that function to work. And I use it a lot.
