@leminilab I think its a solution to a very unique problem. SketchUp has its own sorting in the tray using up and down. So it takes a few clicks.

Nah, he replied this to me: "Regarding keyboard shortcuts, unless they are listed as an option in the SketchUp keyboard shortcuts (Preferences), then it can't be done. Sorry!"

Well... Blender is giving me the most flexible approach. I set the camera and then paint the texture. Any solution involving geometry projection would make editing (change of position, change of texture...) painful. I considered buying Blendup (a Sketchup to Blender transfer add-on) to import my Sketchup cameras and geometry to Blender, paint in Blender and back to Sketchup. Eventually, I chose to do everything in Blender (model, texture and render). I will let you know how it turned up! Thanks a lot for your help, gentlemen!

@leminilab said: 3dita, I thank you, it works perfectly! I just need to find the best spacing in the sandbox to make sure my computer doesn't die rendering this but it is what I needed! Thanks a bunch! Glad I could be of help! Again, make sure the CDs are Proxies, otherwise I think it's gonna be hard to handle that scene.. Looking forward to see how it turned out, ok? Cheers

Must agree on the dirt! @ Alvis: I managed to model it anyway but it doesn't come as good as yours and it took me a looooooooooooooooooooong (and it's still not long enough...) time. I still wish I knew how to look at this to model this properly. Thanks for giving it a try Alvis, I appreciate Nicolas [image: fNn3_Untitled.jpg]

Wow! Thank you all for your replies and comments! @Pilou, oganocali, Rich O'Brien: Thank you very much, these resources are spot on. The only thing is I need to take some quality time to read AND understand them... @solo: Well I have tried this and it looks good but I can't seem to import my textured rock back in Sketchup using Whaat UV Tools... Edit: I can't even paint in Sculptris today... If I understand this, I have 2 options to texture this rock: paint it myself or apply a ready-made texture. In that other case, I'll have to map it and stretched areas in my geometry will be... stretched

Hi all! Thanks again for the great help on the bear! This along with Chipp Walter's video tuts definitely set me on the track for Artisan and I can't thank you enough for that! I'm not done yet with the bear but I didn't have time to finish it yet. I'm quite impatient to finish because I'd be glad to share it. Meanwhile, I had to model this bench for a projet I'm working on and though it's really simple, I've used so many ready to use components myself I thought maybe this one can help someone. So there it is : [image: 2VbX_190_1_sidus-scatto2_.jpg] [image: OfyB_Sidusbench.jpg] [image: TZim_rendertest.png] Alright, you all have a nice day! Nicolas Sidus bench.skp

...I should add that it would be fun to try to make those modifications myself (assuming the approach is valid). A fair while back I had started teaching myself Ruby and made a couple of super simple plugins for my own use. Then I got busy with paid work and dropped the effort. I've probably forgotten much of what I had learned, but I have been meaning to get back to it — and this might be a fun re-entry (especially since most of the work is already done).

Hi all, Thanks a lot for your precious replies! I ended up modelling a completely different (much easier ) Panthella lamp : [image: k3en_1211471108verner_panton1_orgineel.jpg] [image: NSmH_Panthella.jpg] Panthella.skp So since I very often feel gulty for my nearly void contribution to this community, here's the file in case someone might be in need of it for a quick immediate use. It's not to scale, it's just the approximate shape of the lamp but it's there! Again thanks a lot for everything! P.S. to Shura : I need to find some time to upload this dancing people...

Hi, Thank you so much to both of you! It was indeed a matter of style update I guess... I had to re-apply my color by layer style in Layout after the import. Thank you so much for replying so quickly! It's a GREAT community!

I get your point : not ethical is a sweet euphemism! By the way, we found a workaround : I told my friend to mask the unnecessary buildings and upload his model on GE.

Sometimes they cheap out on other components. That would be the ones they don't mention. Maybe the hard drive is slow. Or the actual screen doesn't have a super fast response time or high contrast ratio. Or the motherboard has some quirk that was found after production and now they need to get rid of the inventory. shrug What you need to consider is what you will be using it for. The one thing most laptops ARE NOT good for is intensive design work. Also keep in mind that the lifespan of laptop is +/-4 years. For the good ones.
