      Hi,

      I'm about to purchase a laptop which might be the most important decision I'll have to make in my entire life (come on, let's face it, that's even coming before marriage, children or tax fraud 😕 ).
      So, before making such a big decision, I thought I might look for your experts' advice on the 2 finalists given that :

      I'd like to use it for modeling and rendering with Thea (what else ? ) ;
      I'd like it to be 16' with a numeric pad ;
      I'd like it not to be over 1500 €...

      Now I think I'm gonna go for one of these two:

      or

      (www.grosbill.com)

      The only difference between the two is memory 8GB in the G60JX vs 4 GB in the G60J and graphic card
      GeForce GTS 360M vs GeForce GTX 260M...

      The thing I don't understand is the cheapest one also seems to have the most interesting specs... 😕
      Can anyone tell me what it is I missed?

        Sometimes they cheap out on other components. That would be the ones they don't mention. Maybe the hard drive is slow. Or the actual screen doesn't have a super fast response time or high contrast ratio. Or the motherboard has some quirk that was found after production and now they need to get rid of the inventory.

        shrug

        What you need to consider is what you will be using it for. The one thing most laptops ARE NOT good for is intensive design work.

        Also keep in mind that the lifespan of laptop is +/-4 years. For the good ones.
