if patents are 20 years, then this is the magic year

      SketchUp debuted in August 2000.

Didier's site http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rld seems to be down at the moment, by the way.

Didier announced that he will no longer teach SketchUp nor will he develop new extensions or maintain any of his existing extensions. That's probably why his site is down then.

Any chance that updates / newer versions could be limited to once every fortnight, unless it fixes a mission critical flaw / error / issue?

You have the luck to find a guy or a girl who has an new versions of SU! πŸ˜„
      Because I can't reload your file... πŸ˜•

You do realize that the SketchUp solid tools were only introduced in Sketchp 8 Pro?

Good luck in finding a prior version with those tools.

By the way, from your profile, you are running SU2017, which isn't an archiac version either...

@rustar123 disregard this "advice", totally misguided and unnecessary and rather useless in this case.

Thanks for the info, seems like I'm up to date already. Also checked after the e-mail the other day, same thing, already up to date.

Anyway, you might be interested in this SketchUp to Blender IMPORT addon-- costs a little, but looks like it's worth it.

Thanks for the referral. I bought BlendUp (SketchUp to Blender exporter, worked rather well) back a while ago, the add is still around on SketchUcation but the product isn't compatible with the newer versions of Blender any longer.

      That's not true.
The Sketchup.send_action(10624) solution has been known long before the plugin came.

The action may have been there, but nobody did anything. Strange how it all came together after the release of the extension.

So simple solver and some people still pay 50 bucks for some other plugin which does the same thing...

We pay for the plugin because it solves the problem, effectively. The developer invested considerable time, effort and resources to develop a solution. It was first. Only after it was released other people all of a sudden "discovered" the solution.

Who here has experience of Blender with the BlenderBIM add-on? It looks like architectural CD's is quite possible with it.

    • RE: Sketchup and layout are painfully slow to start up

How many extensions do you have installed in SketchUp? The amount of extensions you have installed plays a role in how quickly (or slowly) SketchUp loads to the point where you can start working.

In my experience Layout isn't a quick starter, never was.

      Unfortunately I can't think of anything off-the-cuff.

On another matter, it's good to see you again man. I've found myself sometimes wondering what happened to you. I know you were shot, didn't know it was twice. Good to see you're a tough ol' dude.

    • RE: Strange Artifact While Zooming

As mentioned above, clipping plane issue, has been an issue with SU ever since I can remember.

I can't vouch for the solution presented above, but have the extension ClippingPlane and it works great. It was the first extension / solution to come to market on this issue. Strangely other solutions followed shortly thereafter, not saying it's copycats but...

There are things you could do to minimise the likelihood of experiencing the clipping plane issue, this has been covered many times before both on the Sketchucation forum as well as on the SketchUp forum, do a search with the term "clipping plane" and you should get a good number of hits to peruse.

I believe that all four of the officers involved in the death of the citizen that started all this, should be charged, not just one.

Agreed. You have to however keep in mind what the Police have to deal with on a daily basis, with much the same excuses to gain some advantage and possibly escape or attack the Officer.

      @mike amos said:

That being said, the reaction is completely over the top and against justice as they are mostly hurting their own community. What a bloody waste.

Yeah it's ugly. Locally many of the protests is accompanied by pillaging and looting, sometimes over self-inflicted problems. Early on in the lockdown many schools were burgled, equipment stolen and quite a few schools burned down - for no apparent reason. Not long after the people protest because the children don't get proper schooling and can't get work that would sustain them.
