      @joshtays said:

      Sorry if this has been asked, I tried to search first, and I'm sure I'm just glossing over an obvious setting.

      Does anyone know a way to offset the 2D symbols for Medeek wall plugin so that they sit above finished floor level instead of at plate height? I tried vertical offset of door, but that only seems to move the 3d Data, not the 2D.

      Thanks all.

      You'll need to locate the symbols and change the SKP, save it (same name, everything) in same location. Be sure to save a backup somewhere as well, could get overwritten with future Medeek updates.

      I've had much success over the years with Smustard's SceneExporterPro, it's fairly straight forward to use as well. There is a free version as well, SceneExporter, but I have not used that version.

      tbh I'm not sure but most probably it is the same pc that got upgraded. I don't remember ever installing it on a different device.

      IIRC installations on the same hardware but for different versions of SketchUp is also counted.

      Hi to the community.
      I'd need the installer of the version of SKP you can see in the Subject of this post, to ensure compatibility of all the sketchup versions in use in the firm I work for.
      Is it possible to have a link to that?

      Thanks in advance!

      Which release version was that?

      Hmmm, new minor version released today?

      Doing a version check on my SketchUp 2021 (version 21.1.332) says I have the latest version, also no newer version on the SketchUp Download URL either?

      Am I missing something? Was something released and subsequently retracted again?

      I've rolled back to the previous version. I cannot work with the new version. i'm not interested in pressing more keys to do the same stuff i used to. I would love the option to use SU as "legacy". Until then I'm not upgrading.

      Which version are you actually using? Your post implies SU2020, your signature says SU2017 and your bio says SU2016?

    • RE: MouseDeck™ receives LOOP Design Award!

      @mike lucey said:

      Hi Guys,

      I have received great news today from the LOOP Design Awards folks! They have just advised me that my MouseDeck™ design has been voted the winner in the 2021 Loop Design Awards - Product/Office and Workspace Design Category by their panel of international judges. I would have been more than happy with an honourable mention in the competition. I now wish I had taken better photos of the setup but maybe I will be able to swap the current pics for more professional looking pics.

      [attachment=0:1ibe9eab]<!-- ia0 -->MouseDeck (Designing-Typing).jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:1ibe9eab]
      After my failure to achieve sufficient backing for MouseDeck™ on Kickstarter™ I was somewhat disheartened and was thinking of shelving the project. However in the past few hours alone I have received communications from a number of interested parties showing an interest in licensing MouseDeck™ which would suit me perfectly as I really have no interest in getting into manufacturing. Hopefully I will be able to get MouseDeck™ operational and move on to the next design idea .... I have a few underway that are sitting on shelves looking at me to do something with them.

      SketchUp plays a huge part in my design work. Without it I would be stumped when it came to getting the initial idea formed quickly and easily.

      If anyone is interested in viewing the details on the LOOP Design Awards website, here is the appropriate link.

      While I'm no expert, but if I were a betting man I'd say those graphics were created with the help of SketchUp, it has a tell-tale look. 😛

    • RE: Sketchup Icon Viewer

      @matte said:

      Good Day,
      Over the years I have created an extensive Library of things to cut and paste into my models. It's large enough to the point to where I am having problems picking the "right" part in a timely manner. For example when I want to add a table light to a scene. Style is very important.... When I “open the folder” that I have all my table lights in… there is “70 or 80” to choose from. The way I input a “Light” now is insert them one by one till I find something suitable. What I would like to know…. Is there some form of an Icon viewer where when I open the folder in windows with many Sketchup items in there… I see what they are without having to open them up one by one till I find something usable.
      Thanks Matte

      Also worth checking out Component Finder.

    • RE: Plugins disappearing

      Each major release runs independently alongside other major releases. When installing a new major release, you have to install the extensions for that release from fresh again.

      Most of the time the extensions work as expected, however there are times when they don't (when the Ruby API was updated) as such it is good practice to install extensions from fresh (no copying, etc.) and use the latest available versions.

      Keep in mind when the Ruby API is updated and something appears to be broken in extensions, it could take time for that developer to play catch-up and update it to be compatible again, however sometimes this never happens.

      How do you show the swinging direction for your doors and windows in elevation?

      Pointing to the Right? Or Wrong? 😉

      We've always thought of this symbol as a triangular flag with the fixed side where the hinges are and the pointy side where the handle is. However, in some places the flag works the other way around, huh?!

      As we are now working on a tag (layer) for 2D markings for FlexTools components, we need your advice!

      Which way do you mark your swings?

      The supposed correct way is with the pointy side pointing to the hinges. However, in practice here in South Africa I've only seen (and used) the pointy side shows to the swinging side with the triangle base at the hinge side.

      Any suggestions?

      The external user editable file is a great idea, but looking at the TXT file example I don't think someone will want to play with it, it's not clear what the various parameters each do (it might be to some though).

      Perhaps consider writing a multi-platform app that interpret all of it (read and write) with a friendly user interface. I guess this brings you back to the extension really then? Keeping the external file with the saved settings would still be handy and can be readily backed up.

      If you really want to have the parameters manually editable, perhaps a comprehensive guide would be sufficient? You don't need to teach construction or regulations, just explain (with examples perhaps) what the various parameters do.

      I think the problem could be Windows related. Since 01/06/2021 I've had issues in how my machine runs and another program which suddenly started working erroneously, the only answer I could come up with is Windows (10) updates.
