      Hi juju β€” I see that you've been active on the Sketch FX forums at Fluid: I'm considering buying it and I'm wondering what your experience has been and if you would recommend it?

      (there isn't a massive amount of activity in the forums and many posts go unanswered, so it makes me a bit nervous about ongoing support. On the positive side, the fact that they have upgraded all of their extensions to work with 2021 is an encouraging sign, but still... would like to see a more active presence by the users, and especially the developer)

      I'd hardly say I was active there, probably a handful of posts, if that many.

      I'd say it is worth while, I have "Ambient Occlusion Ex" & "SketchFX Ex" as they do a good job at NPR rendering at a reasonable rendering time. While they are rather quiet on their forum they do update the extensions whenever new SU versions are released. So if you're updating SketchUp in future, keep your maintenance with the product (-s) you choose up to date. I would add though, it would be great if SketchFX came with more presets, but you can create your own with a bit of work.

    • RE: Layout - different page sizes possible within one file ???

      @dave r said:

      You're quite welcome. The feature has been requested by a few other users in the past. My guess is that it might be awhile in coming if it does. Lots of other things that seem to be higher priority. Also there aren't a lot of printers out there that can handle multiple page sizes. Not sure about PDFs handling different page sizes either.

      PDF's handle different pages sizes just fine. However you may have a valid argument with printers having difficulty with different page sizes, well I would imagine older types of printers anyway.

      Did you copy the extension from an older version or did you install fresh from here? Both Round Corner and FredoCorner work fine for me in SU2021.

      This is a little off topic, but which of the two is the most recent extension? I keep on forgetting, and checking update dates doesn't help as I think they both get updated currently.

      Medeek has a sale (40% off) on for the mdkBIM suite and only that, not for other / individual extension.

    • RE: 2021 problem on install

      Yeah, I had the same thing, wanted to run 2021 in trial mode until I felt comfortable with it, but couldn't (it may be the classic ID10T problem?) so ended up upgrading my 2020 perpetual license to 2021 perpetual, so I guess I'm stuck with 2021 whether I like it or not.

      I currently use Sketchup 2018 although I am up to date with the maintenance program. I just downloaded 2020-2 and installed but I do not have an email giving me the serial number and authorization. Where do I get that info? Thanks in advance.

    • RE: Medeek Electrical

      @medeek said:

      Just for fun I created some "wire" sizes at your typical HVAC duct sizes and then laid out some geometry (polylines) with the help of the SketchUp grid extension:

      https://aws1.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/3X/2/d/2ddf1e94290bd02f458a8756254787d06c4076d9.jpeg

      The only thing I could not draw with the wire tool was the rectangular reducer shown in blue.

      HVAC (duct work) is fairly straight forward in my opinion however there needs to be a few more specific parts and pieces in order to terminate and make transitions. So there would need to be a separate tool (and library) for common size reducers, boots and grilles.

      I'm not really an HVAC (mechanical engineer), I've done a little work in the field about 15 years ago while doing some contract work at BYU, but then again I'm not an electrician either and look how far this plugin has come. I guess it just takes some interest and a desire to learn, but I do think HVAC is a bit more involved than Electrical.

      An useful HVAC tool would be nice, it doesn't have to do the complex calculations but rather be useful as a tool with the options (size of ducts, grilles, etc.) to be set/chosen by the end-user whilst being able to handle the transformations automatically.

      @calypsoart said:

      I have both 2019 and 2020 0n my machine. However, double-clicking on a .skp file tries to open it in 2019. I tried setting to 202 through the properties but no go. What is the correct way to set 2020 as the .skp default application?

      This is current bug with SU2020. Reinstalling / repair installs won't work.

      As a workaround, don't use double click on a file to open a SKP file, open it from within SketchUp2020.

    • Drive contents migration

      It seems to be time to upgrade my installs (c:) drive. I’m thinking of replacing my current M.2 512GB Samsung 860 Pro with a M.2 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus. (Mainboard only PCIE 3.0 compliant, so no use in going for the latest and greatest stuff).

      So it seems as though it is possible to migrate the SSD image from one drive to the other. Question is this, how will doing this influence / affect my SketchUp Pro installation? Same question for the extensions that require serials / activations.

      Any / all advice welcomed.
