Damn, never noticed that. The toggle on seems to be the default on my puter. Never needed a reason to toggle off.

Opens more quickly than previous versions and seems to handle hi-poly a bit better. That's just an impression tho.

Change in workflow sucks, but as a person involved in the beta testing I can tell you that we test it, make sure it isn't junk and report back. The trays were annoying me initially and now they are part of my workflow. Trimble has done a great job with SketchUp I have to say. Imagine if it went over to Autodesk!!!

Ok - I've found the problem - following a suggestion in another thread about crashes I turned off hardware acceleration and the problem was fixed!!
Could you please pass it on to Trimble.

On the other hand perhaps Sketchup can now get back to what it was originally intend to do, be a cheap, easy to use 3D modeling program for architects and designers.

John, this may be a long shot but...

Do you ever move or realign the model axes? Is there an option to 'Reset' when you right click on the origin? It may not be the problem in your case but I have seen models in which the user moved the model axes and didn't get them aligned accurately. The result was that many parts of the model were drawn just slightly off axis. It was difficult to identify until I found components that were drawn before the axes were moved and then found the Reset option for the axes was available.

It's remembered with the SKP so add it to your normal template and new SKPs should then take those settings...

Tom, I understand your frustration as a service provider, but I wouldn't want the State buy new cars just because the old ones don't have a video camera providing a view backing up. Aren't the Brit's currently climbing out of one of the worlds worst economic turn downs? Hope you can "hang in there" until things get better.

Me too, but not consistently, ie: some take the name, some don't.

another couple of points

1 - in model info/components adjustments regards shading other components don't save and it reverts to the original position. I've tried everything to make it stay to where I want it set but no way.

the tab in windows start bar doesn't show the current model - for example you open the program an it reads untitled. You then load a program called Model 1 and work on it yet the tab still reads untiled.

Something similar, but deals with not heavily textured objects well.

This is a common "mistake" (if we can call it like that). Sometimes it's even performed in really unexpected situations when for instance a group created "on the fly" glues onto a face. See attached example.

At a rough guess, I would say that one of the vehicles making all those cool street level panoramas is a large white and yellow van. Pan right as it drives by the Google Campus. 😄

Yes - but they are only minor differences which would be recognised on install surely. Steinberg sells more programs than sketchup, I'm sure they've considered this.
