Thank you thank you thank you..... @jql said: You should disable auto rendering on the model tab. Reload reference by clicking on the right button on a scene. Nevermind the yellow warning icons as they don't show on an export. Render the specific scene you need. When you have the time reload the wholed document. A fast way is to click on the auto render again an go take a coffee. This has quite literally given me back hours of my life and make LO a lot more pleasurable to use! Love when you find a nifty little solution to a vexing problem... Cheers

There is no one button click to do that but it shouldn't really take much time to resize the viewport to suit the model as displayed. If you hold Alt (Command on the Mac) you can resize the viewport diagonally or horizontally from the center. Resize diagonally first and get it close top and bottom. Then switch to a side handle and finish resizing horizontally. Two quick actions is all it takes.

I still don't understand what patterns you are talking about. Do you mean patterns for templates to cut out pieces of wood? You don't have to draw them in LayOut. Just use SketchUp for that. Create a scene for the pattern in SketchUp and make a viewport at the proper scale in LO. As to dimensions, you write about a risk as if someone's life is hanging on it. There is no problem dimensioning small things accurately and precisely. I create plans for furniture and other woodworking projects all the time using LayOut. I don't have any problem using the Dimensioning tool in LO for this. Post the LO file or send it in a PM if you wish. I can get to the Sketchup file from there.

Hi, ipsketchpi: I searched this string: "Sketchup Layout line weight default" and got this: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/sketchup/9OIMwNb6vX4 If the answer you seek is not in there, I was thinking probably you could go find the Layout internal support folder that carries the default lineweight specification and see if you can change it. I would be disinclined to do that for concern that it may have other "repercussions"?.

like gaieus said, (multiple) layers, and lock them or turn them off. the whole 'sticky' objects thing is annoying as all get out. imagine if sketchup worked this way...

http://www.autotracer.org/ - nice option, I have tryed some other web based tools, but these works super fast. I will use it in future. FreeDxf importer- could be very useful for free SU users. Tig trim plug, will test it, looks interesting. Thank you very much. Very helpfull like always. Best support. One more reason why SU is good choice
