Unfortunately, ArchiCAD is becoming the new AutoCAD. It's $5,000, and there's a new version every year with only minor tweaks. That's why some companies, including my former employer, have stopped upgrading it. Once a software maker adopts the yearly subscription model, you know what to expect .

i think something much scarier is that you don't have to take an IQ test to run the country! (BUSH) I'd like to see stats on how many politicians have a sub 80 IQ

That looks pretty cool, but with such a large main screen, why not have a mini screen on both sides I wonder. I have two netbooks and their screens, including the frame, easily fit in the space of my 15.4" screen notebook when turned sideways.

This thread is what got me thinking about how to animate a ping pong ball that lead to a DC movie I made o Bryce and Sang playing Ping Pong: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=14871 Indeed there is a lot of power with figuring out how to control this better and seeing how other people are accomplishing similar tasks. Thanks Scott. That's pretty much what I did with the orange one, which works just fine. They grey one, on the other hand gets squashed flat if you force a redraw after animating. the barrier

Ah! Well. It's a mini-bonanza for all the non-Podium users. They are very nice cutouts, Stu. The South Pacific and UK disks look excellent too. I remember you mentioning the S. Pacific one on another thread.

Hulls does a great job for hard chined boats. I used it to design the cradle boat I built for my son and I've drawn a few other boats. I've also used DelftShip--used to be called Free!Ship but for easy. Hulls has it. [image: 99abc119.jpg] [image: 08eaff89.jpg] Free!Ship to SketchUp to KT [image: Vesper.jpg]

@jim said: Bill, In addition, it appears you can write your own custom Ruby callbacks for onClick, although I haven't been 100% sucessful in doing it; AdamB has said he added this to his LightUp plugin. This sounds very interesting. I was wondering about that the other day.

Another heads up. A few people were asking if it was possible to use Al Hart's plugin to generate actual 3D trees in addition to the billboards. I'm not sure whether that is possible, because of the Terms of Use of the original tree generator. However there is a little freebie called Arbaro that runs entirely in Java....so it runs from a folder on your desktop (any OS) by double clicking the arbaro.jar file. The results, though, are worthy of anything produced by XFrog or Onyx. It outputs in Pov and Obj formats. Here is a link to a gallery page showing the results...the download link is near the top of the page. And attached is a render of a model converted to 3ds, imported into SU (agonisingly slowly) and rendered in VRay. I needed to reverse the normals on the leaves prior to import, for some reason, but the whole model is separate groups, so that was no big deal. [image: k8Gl_blacktupelo.jpg]
