Tests with VRay
-
I'm working on some new banner ads for FF. I thought it was about time we had some photoreal stuff instead of the usual flattish SU renders.
I'm slowly getting the hang of the various lighting options. They're not all my models, of course...just about half of them. I'm more concerned about the technicalities behind the render. Minus the 3 palm trees outside, this entire scene (including the 5 piece patio set) has only 18,000 faces, so rendering times are pretty speedy.

A closer view, just to show that you don't need to sacrifice quality along with the polygons.

The renders look great Alan, but they have a little noise no? what's the renderer??

Podium. He just put VRay in the title for a laugh.

Looks okay to me Alan (but don't ever trust my eyes and taste - why do you think I rarely post in this department?)
Anyway, one (practical) crit if you allow; to me it seems to be a bit unnatural to turn on the light on such a nice, sunny day. I know more lights can add to the scene (and I guess there are some behind the camera) but at least turn the one visible off.

Yes, I will Gai. I'm setting it up to do both a day time and night time view. The biggest problem seems to be not turning the artificial lights off, but turning the sun and daylight off. Last resort will be to stick it all in a very big box.
It really is VRay. It works straight out of the SU view...just like Podium -

While reading your previous sentence, exactly this came to mymind.
You could even add some nice background image (with a HUGE Moon or something) to it. -
