Here's a fixed version. Draped it onto a surface to make sure it was flat. The main things wrong were the parallel lines didn't often meet the faceted curve - fixed by copying a long line at the centres drawn multiple times, overlaying existing lines and auto-cutting curve's edges, then deleting unwanted bits (v7 auto cuts intersecting edges). A few unconnected vertices and strange overlaps didn't help. Make Faces was not needed that much once that was fixed... There are still a few messy bits around the circular shape - suggest you might redraw that over the top [in a group], then erase the unwanted mess and then explode group to insert the good circle etc ? Note this version is stripped down - no layers, materials etc... 680_LagoonaTilePattern[fixed].skp

I could reproduce it in that particular file. Haven't tried in another one (yet) however. I suppose it's somehow related to the combination of the groups and face me component axes but I can't tell for sure.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have a screen shot of an area of your curtain walls so we can share in your pain.

The simple answer is it can't be done in sketchup. If you want to do something like this youd be much better of looking at a proper animation package like 3ds max or maya.

Take a copy of your file and delete about half of the components and see if KT still crashes. Also try running it on another more powerful system.

Very nice and easy tutorial. Thank you very much. I'm tackling with some maps right now, where I can make good use of it (Maps for some RPG Supplements).

Thankyou very much for this advise because i faced a problem with the method i used. But after toggeling start and end point, the result shows some faults. I will correct them manually. Karlheinz There are no problems, only questions. [image: y6OK_Alpen41.jpg] Alpen41.skp

Menu > View > Hidden Geometry will show hidden/smoothed edges so you can edit or snap to them. With them showing you can now draw lines onto the surfaces to make new areas and then add another colour to these 'stripe' faces... There's also a plugin called 'lines/tools on surface' that lets you do this more easily... Remember to switch off 'Hidden Geometry' when you are done... Make sure your Style includes showing edges !

You can export scene based animation with File > Export > Animation. Read more about this here: http://download.sketchup.com/sketchuphelp/gsu6_win/Content/K-Input_and_Output/Import_and_Export/IO-AnimExportOptions.htm (note that though it is marked as a [image: welcome-Plus.jpg] "Pro only feature", it is also available in the free version since SU 6) However, since Sketchy Physics doesn't animate objects based on scenes, you won't be able to export any animation from SU. The only way is to use a screen (motion) capture application like Auto Screen Recorder for instance (but of course, there are several other apps) which also has a free version.

@anglaret said: I suppose you are right, but a component does not brake an area betwen 2 rooms (to change floors coverings for example) You could leave a line to separate the rooms. That's how I would do it.

Thank you for the help. Manual adjustments seem the best alternative for what I need -- I just wanted to confirm there wasn't a simple trick in SU that I didn't understand.
