In complement of Jean's "Idea", Here is a Youtube video which shows how it is interesting to make your globe a component before adjust the pushpull shapes of doors and windows. This way, you enter the component before make an intersection with the model and then you have no cleaning job to do [flash=560,340:3vpqnq8y]http://www.youtube.com/v/SUYN_Uqzvec[/flash:3vpqnq8y] (re:I have found this video on a thread where TIG was explaining to someone how to weld two tubes together but I don't recover this trhead.) ...I have found it again: [Plugin] Extrude Edges by Rails v1.1 simon

The way to get nice movies out of SU is to export .pngs instead of .mov. And set the resolution up by 2x the final desired size. then use Quicktime Pro to assemble all the images into a .mov and set hte size how you want it, and export (and yes I do have to ignore my conscience every time I use QT pro ). That will make a high quality movie. chris

It's how the plugins are written. It's a real simple fix (a line or two of code) but since the vast majority of writers are on pcs, they don't realize they need to add this little snippet for macs. Some people have began including it (fredo for instance) and I've edited a couple of rubys to work right on mac but a couple of them are encrypted so I just deal with it (or keep the script unloaded until I need it for a particular session) anyway, you might want to ask the writer to include the necessary code. I'm on a phone right now so searching the forum is cumbersome atm but there are threads here that outline what needs to be included.

Haha, problem solved. Thanks very much. I have to keep reminding myself to think of the simple solutions first. Much appreciated

For a circle Don't very well understand : why not use copy Rotation by 15° then *23? (with a circle 24 segments by default) [image: VmHh_23.jpg]

See ComponentReporter++, CutList etc for examples of CSV export... There are also several similar tools that allow you to choose a folder/filename with UI.openPanel. You can insert a consistently named CSV into an Excel XLS and format it, any changes in the CSV are updated in the XLS... If you structure your CSV logically so that the data in each line is readable then exporting it back into another Ruby should be relatively straightforward... So, for example you have a face that's exported, list its corner vertex xyz positions, layer, layer_name, attributes etc etc. When you import it you dread it line by line, the first field of the CSV tells you its a 'face', so then you expect vertex-positions so read those, turning them into numbers with to_f, each set of three of these gives a point [x,y,z], next when you get to a field called 'layer' you know the point sets are done and the next point will be a layer-name etc etc... face=entities,add_face(points_array) face.layer=layer_name etc etc

Search for CutList and ComponentReporter++ What you want is quite doable, needs some thought on the actual naming, reporting etc... I suggest you post in the Plugins Forum [here] with a '[Request]' prefix - you're likely to get a better response...

@mambo.harts.u said: @tig said: If you import a SKP as a massing element in Revit you can then go through and change walls to walls, floors to floors and curtain-walls etc - it does work... Really? the last time I tried, i did imported a massing element which is a cube with round edges... It's there but I can't edit it. as if it was "grouped" in sketchup terms. Do you know what to do? I'm using revit 2010 and sketchup pro 6. Thanks! Yes, it was part of the introduction course I did for Revit. I don't rememeber exactly what you did though. But I'm sure it'd in the Help files.

Hey guys. I've modelled this and posted the images here. After my crit, I have altered the design slightly and I need a far more accurate model of the skin. Essentially it'll be the same as the framework as the Great Court of the British Museum. [image: 300px-British_Museum_Great_Court_roof.jpg] I initially modelled it with SoapSkinBubble, but now I've looked at Tig's EEbyRails and Lines2Tubes to make this but I still have no idea how to make it using EEbyRails. I've taken the outline of the bubble and now struggling to make it. [image: c1.jpg] [image: c2.jpg] http://dl.dropbox.com/u/445006/Outline.skp - Here is a link to the outline of the building If someone could help me, I would be extremely grateful! I want something like what Tig made in this topic. Thank you!!

Not really in the spirit of doing it from the basics but the plugin "Bool Tools" from Smustard really helps with deletion of unwanted geometry. It costs $10 but you soon save the time to make it worthwhile.

Hi folks. Don't forget that you can use "Explode curve" to transform a circle or polygon or freehand curve into a serie of edges. After that, you can delete selected edges withoout erasing the whole lot. Just ideas.

I am running in Decimal-Inches. Length snapping is turned off and precision is set to 0.000000". This is the Product Design Woodworking template. The issue seems to exist on my PC and Laptop.

Draw 'stream' as a flat 2d 'ribbon'. Use SUp's Sandbox-Tools, to 'Stamp' it, with a suitable offset dimension, and it will make a cutting with embankments] onto any terrain you select... There are already several tutorials out there on how to do this - usually relating the roads - but if anything yours is perhaps simpler since water is often 'flat' ?
