I did add one new plug-in/ruby (tt_uv_toolkit.rb) but that has long since been deleted - I'm just trying to get it working with a clean installation and new window! All signs of the "old" stuff have been moved to another drive, the main hard drive has had all traces (that I can find) of SU and associated files removed. I render files with Podium (which continues to work as expected) Thanks for your reply.

Hi Dahmani and welcome to SCF! For the first problem (sincethe Follow me tool - as you noticed - only works properly with 2D curves), here is a plugin called "Follow me and keep" (i.e. face orientation...) For the second, have you tried the (native SU) Sandbox tools yet? There could be more advanced plugins but I do not want to overwhelm you with them yet.

i have a simple way of sketchuping this sofa first draw it straight boxed for the sitting part making the base and coussions as boxes then round the corners of the top and bottom faces of the cousions then in order to make them bombe'( or have a belly) use either round corner with a bigger radious or draw rays to the edges and make them meet on an edge of a circle then move the circle up a little and it will create the bombe' you want.other way is to make a shallow dome intersect with a rounded corner box and remove the exess. now for the arms and the back extrude them using the cross section of the arms which consists of a rectangle an 3/4 of a circle. extrude this profile using a wide u-shaped path but filet the 2 corners of the u shaped path before using the follow me tool. now you want to make the capitone' recessed buttons ..it is easy. drow small circles at the exact locations of the buttons according to the pattern you want. then offset each circle about 5 or 6 cms ( this is the radious of the recess of the button) then connect both the inner circle and the outer one with random rays then pull down the inner little circle that represents the button using the move tool ,this will make your capitone' style. for the round detail of the coussions edge use a tiny cercle to follow me the edge of the coussion. for the front of the arms offset the face and use the generated offset as a path for tiny domes with the base of those domes sitting on the face of the arms using copy along path plugin. at the end smooth evrything to your satisfaction then texture with a shiny rinkled black leather texture and use also small domes horisontally and vertically as buttons after texturing them with black leather. for the helmit brass nails on the face of the arms use also tiny domes but texture them gold or brass or bronze texture. and enjoy your sofa regards hesham

Well I know 3dmax, and I have Kerkythea, and twilight. I have messed around with twilight too much and been a little while since kerkythea, I might try Piranesi just to do some loose rendering ideas to save myself a little time.

Another method is to create some frames in photoshop. A rectangle with a transparent interior and a frame of 50% grey. SAve these various aspect ratio files as png's and load them in sketchp as "watermarks" in the style area. Use the centred mode so as not to distort the shape. These will then appear as a transparent frame. You can also add other lines, crosshairs etc. so it has the feel of a real viewfinder too.

See here for how to model a twisted strip - a column is very similar... http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=58876#p58876 This tutorial is even better... http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=224746#p224746

@box said: [image: plant1.gif] That had me slowing down the first time I saw that sign. (I studied in England for three years) I had a series of very amusing images in my head as I saw the sign - and I do believe I was looking around half-way expecting to see a herd of giant plants crossing.

Greenace92.................what happened to you? You piqued my curiosity with your Q.....and no report back I have done a few "full" scale print runs myself with good success and wondering if you needed any further guidance? Just checking..... Charlie
