Is there a easier way to cut a pitch on say a post instead of having to draw another solid and erase that solid from it? Maybe like a pitch tool? I added a drawing if I didn't explain myself too good.
      Thanks Kurt

did you try selecting the end edges and simply rotating them?

ahhh, i guess you'd have to scale the top back to original size after.

I don't know of anything simpler than that since you have the Solid tools. You could do it "the hard way" with a simple cutting plane but then you have to delete the waste.

I did this as an example for someone who uses the free version last week to answer the same sort of question.

Of course, if the angle is one you'd use again, you could make a component of the post instead of a group and save it into a library for later use. That way you only need to make the cut once.

Thanks for the replies, its just I deal with a lot of different pitches from day to day and thought there may be an easier way to do it or a plugin that would. I've used the angle_de_coupe plugin but its not very precise and I need it to be.I guess I can start an army of pitch components to use.
              Thanks again Kurt

Kurt, are you dealing with roof pitches? If so, in a few minutes you could make posts for all the common roof pitches you'd deal with. Just make a short I-beam component or group, copy it and then copy the box you'll use for cutting. When you rotate the "cutting box" enter the rotation angle as a pitch and you're cooking with gas. After you cut the angles, make the resulting groups into components and shove them into a local library for later use. You can always modify the length later.

And while you're at it, change the location of the component axes to give you an easy insertion point for when you bring the components into your models.

No worries. Go do something else for awhile, though. 😉
