The relationship of the length and position of the bent object to the curve will be the same as length and position of the object to the line.

Yeah. I did a google search for "spirix.rb" and found the web page. I printed the complete instructions and explanations for further study. Evidently this author has a sense of humor and he has a nice collection in the warehouse. I wish he would place a date on that web page to somehow indicate when he updates so as to give it some feeling of activity. He has three categories under construction with a completion date back in 2010. I would commend him for his talents and generosity, if I could. I don't have much presence on other websites, needless to say.

Ok, so the I have solved the problem. It appears the problem was intoduced in sketchup 8. All you have to do is go "file" , "geo-location" , "clear location". For what ever reason that is what is causing the problem. Clear that and you are good. Thanks for the response though!

I can honestly say that thomthoms solid inspector plugin turned SU from a program that I used to use sometimes into a program that I now use almost daily.

I do not think TIG's plugin would be needed here. It's only needed when there is some complex, textured 2D geometry to be draped. What you do with a single image is actually not draping but projecting (this may sound hair splitting but knowing the correct terms can also let you find answers in the help documentation easier, too). First of all, how large is that jpg image? SU (even enabling max. texture size) will only display 2048x2048 pixel images (and half of that by default). Would scaling the image (if it is very large) stop crashing?

ok.. cool, will give that a shot. Thanks ETA.. sadly, although the axis move was successful, the .dae export didn't keep it there.

I have a feeling the original poster is thinking along the lines of exhaust headers like this [image: headers.jpg] Then for the roll cage something like this. [image: 0000008_300.jpg] I am interested in the best way to go about drawing these in Sketchup as well.

Note however that the maximum size of an image that can be imported into SketchUp is 1024x1024, so any file larger than that will be automatically downsized. As of SU7 you can override this by enabling "Use maximum texture size" in Preferences>OpenGL that lets SU use the largest texture size supported by your graphics card (might slow down SU). This option affects textures and images on the screen (not export or print quality). Rendering apps should be able to "see" the original texture resolution. It is recommended that for better quality results, larger images should be downsized before importing into SU, using a photo editing program like Photoshop (one that supports bicubic resampling) and saved as a high-quality JPEG file.
