"Pointed" roof
-
Hi everybody,
I'm new to SketchUp. While waiting for a manual to arrive, can someone explain how to draw a pointed roof?
Thanks a lot

Thanks for your help.As a matter of interest, I'm one of the 'older' generation so you'll have to forgive my brain, it ticks over a lot slower!

Your welcome. In that case you'll find good company here.
I've added some more notes above.
Can't recommend enough Aidan Chopra's videos. http://www.aidanchopra.com/

John LWait, there's a manual?
Search and ye shall find.http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=39025
I'm sure that's just the "tip" of iceberg (or roof) for all the videos and tuts you'll find if you search. Welcome and have fun!
Note, once you see the blue direction dotted line appear, while performing "move" , depress the shift key to lock into up-down movement. After your move, click mouse to stop (or let up on button if you use drag method) then let go of shift key. Next you can type in an length for the move if you want.
Extra: To raise roof by particular pitch, use the protractor tool. Start your protractor at the midpoint of a side (move the cursor in the approximate area before clicking to set protractor origin and blue dot will appear and note will say "midpoint"). You can enter pitch (like 4:12) or angle and get a guideline for the peak of the roof.

Hi John, hi folks.
Use the rightmost menu, namely the Help menu. It is your link to the Help Center. There, you will find a lot of information plus links to the User's Guide, the Reference Guide, a lot of instructional videos plus many more ressources, including the Help group for Goggle SketchUp and SketchUcation, just to name a few. You will also see a link for more videos on YouTube.
Using Help Menu --> Help Center shall bring you here:

I strongly suggest that you take a few hours to see all the video tutorials. These few hours will save you a lot of wasted hours trying to slove problems. Try the Learning SketchUp button on the left part of the Help Center welcome page. It shall bring you here:

Just ideas.
