Draping a texture on to a contour map?
-
A colleague of mine is trying to drape a jpg of a landscape plan over our masterplan, unfortunately the contour plan that the jpg needs to map onto appears to be to complex, and keeps crashing SketchUp. I was wondering if anyone had a way of getting round this either through SketchUp or by using another programme.
Thanks

See if Superdrape, by TIG can work. Click the red Plugins Index link on this page. It is in the first list you see and is also in the list under his name in the List by author.

I do not think TIG's plugin would be needed here. It's only needed when there is some complex, textured 2D geometry to be draped. What you do with a single image is actually not draping but projecting (this may sound hair splitting but knowing the correct terms can also let you find answers in the help documentation easier, too).
First of all, how large is that jpg image? SU (even enabling max. texture size) will only display 2048x2048 pixel images (and half of that by default). Would scaling the image (if it is very large) stop crashing?
