PROBLEM - Components grabbed from the component library are not "inserting" using the component axis (this would allow me to use my mouse and select where i want
to insert the component... the component hovers on the edge of the mouse cursor), instead it either inserts to the drawing axis point or else to where
the component was drawn in the drawing to begin with.

INFO - I primarily have all my components drawn in sketchup and save them to the component library to be dropped into a job at a latter date.

I have had all the components drawn and set the axis for every component how i wanted it to drop in and it was working great. However,
I recently updated a few components and drew out a few new ones and it is not referencing the axis of the component for in the insertion point
it is either picking the model axis point or the original location the component was drawn in.

I want to have the components drop into a fresh sketchup file (model is purged and there are no copy's of the component in the component model window)

I have noticed that when I drop a component in it will go to the component window model, and then if I click there I can drop it in using the component axis. (component
will hover on end of mouse and I can click insertion point)

NOTE: I have some of my components working where from a fresh drawing they will just drop in no problem using the component axis as the insertion point. Then some of the
newer ones I have done using the same methods are not dropping in using the component axis as the insertion point. They are being automatically placed at either the model axis
point or the original location where the components were drawn.

NOTE: I have most of my components drop in and use a gluing plane of "Any" and they drop in using the component axis as the insertion point.

NOTE: I do not want to have all of my components "pre loaded" into the model of my blank sketchup drawing. I belive this would solve the problem but I have never had to
do this before and I do not want the size of my files to increase by pre loaded every component into the blank sketchup template.

I have been trying to problem solve this with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It can be confusing so read the user manual very carefully , but it sounds to me they are doing what I would expect. There is a slight difference how they behave if you insert directly from the component browser vs to the dwg and then insert. One issue I seem to face all the time is when I set the axis how does it really get inserted. SU shows the greyed rectangle and the three axis with the cross but it shows the same if you set with a right vs left hand coordinates. The usual convention is either with a circle and center dot or the cross. The former indicates you are looking back toward the origin ( arrow head of the axis) or the other way around. I finally made a simple model and went thru a number of test cases. If not done already you may want to give that a try. You should also look at the capability of selecting inserted components , going to the component browser, selecting a component and then select "replace selected".

Ok, so the I have solved the problem. It appears the problem was intoduced in sketchup 8. All you have to do
is go "file" , "geo-location" , "clear location". For what ever reason that is what is causing the problem. Clear that and
          you are good.

          Thanks for the response though!
