Here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=bc92eca8611ed04d2470944666440e50 If you do not like the texture on it, you can reload the material in the Material browser > In model library with your own - UV mapping will remain intact (note that this model is extremely high poly stuff - 90 segments were used instead of the default 24 segments in the circles when the sphere was created so expect some lags in SU). It was mapped with this plugin: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23725

I believe it's back edges... [image: 91yx_BackEdges.png] If it's always on, turn it off, update your current style and save an empty model as template under File... Use this template as your default (if you do not like this new feature).

Even the textures seem to vary from app to app. That cameraman model is almost entirely vertex-painted, but I used the standard metallic texture on part of the rig. That doesn't display either in Deep Exploration. You can see it listed at the right hand side of my graphic, but it's not assigned to any face. PS Somebody in Boulder needs to learn how to spell corrugated, too.

You can get the area of the face of the plywood piece from Entity Info and then multiply that by the square foot weight. You could do the same for price if you want. There is a cut list plugin that would tell you the number of square feet of material if the component name includes a sheet material word such as Plywood, ply etc. It calculates the dimensions by the dimensions of the bounding box of the component so the irregular edge you'd get from your example wouldn't be figured into the square foot calculation. The cut list plugin will also calculate board foot numbers for timbers.

TIG did a fantastic set of plugins, which are the direct answer to my initial question: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=386658#p386658 Thank you very much!

Those plugins do work. And yes, one has to learn how each plugin works first. Why do not you post an example of what you want to achieve and then we can provide some help?

OK, broken the problem down, it is apparent that quite randomly, sketchup is breaking an arc (curve, whatever you want to call it) into its constituent lines. I know of the weld tool but frankly this is getting too much. Is there a way to stop this from happening or is it an inherrent sketchup problem? This occurs BEFORE I do anything else with the geometry.

I'm using Sweet Home 3D and Sketchup 8, free version. I downloaded a Kraft Maid cabinet from Trimble, keeping the original oak texture in one instance and painting it with a texture from my collection in another. I added a countertop (Corian texture from Trimble), sink and faucet (again from Trimble). When I exported the file, all components were pure white. Tried it without sink and faucet, same result. Fixed up a "junk" cabinet, only adding my texture to some parts - the junk file exported just fine. I downloaded the trial version of Sketchup Pro, built some more cabinets and again all white unless it was a model that I did't care whether it turned out okay (in which case it did). Incidentally, I had a similar problem a couple months ago except that the models were turning all pink. I uninstalled Sketchup. then reinstalled it and it seemed okay until now. Just now I went to another computer and again all is white.

Something nice about scaling to a neg cone Shaders for sketchup Scale to a neg cone: shaders by rotaton of base. [image: QyGt_pic_0073.jpg] No texture. No rendering. No shodows turn on Just plain colors and tranparency: 100% sketchup [image: fqo6_pic_0074.jpg] Lamp is a point light and below is a sorce light [image: RhBz_pic_0071.jpg] Again shadows not needed to render the light. Looking though a sorce light. [image: sI4d_pic_0075.jpg]

If a model is not accepted, they always give an explanation why. It's at the bottom of the model page but visible only to the model owner. For example: [image: g9tP_NotAccepted.png] This hint would be very useful when trying to trouble-shoot.

I believe Blender can export to a variety of 3D file types like fbx, 3ds or dae (kmz?). Any of these can be imported into SketchUp.

@dave r said: I see where you're coming from although I would think that if a file was included there wouldn't be a need to provide a link to it. i agree with you. I am not saying this was not my fault, i am merely adding a note, so that others would not get frustrated and give up on this useful plugin. I am stubborn and would not quit till i got it to work. This was clearly me not reading between the lines. I know now, how some of these programs work. My thought was that if i needed a new car, i would not have to go look for an engine, even if the dealer made a mention that cars needed a certain engine to work. I would have thought that was included in the price. Again, i am not trying to be difficult. I apologize if it appears like i am. Not my intention at all.

Oh, btw, I've started adding support for Fredo's update checker for my plugins. So that's one way to get some of the versions.

Based on these photos only tgi3d calibration tool reports a relative dimensional uncertainty of around 5 percent (not acceptable for most applications). (Need more features and/or more photos of the same set up to get more accurate dimensions). You can look at the calibrated scene yourself. [image: H9Vz_image_igloo.png] therm.skp

@az770 said: I am working on a large model and everything went fine until the model went over 10MB. sketchup started to crash and produce bug splats. It also says that the file I'm working is locked by another user, and won't let me save changes to the model. Can anyone tell me why these things might be happening? Thanks, AZ770 Oh god, don't remind me... I once had a 130 MB model, imagine how that was... What Sketchup version do you use?
