What I do is not at all difficult with the right tools. Like anything else in SketchUp life you just have to learn how to do it.

There is the EP Fasteners extension that will make screw threads. I prefer my process because I think I get nicer screw threads. For a program that was intended for architectural modeling, I think there are good options for modeling screw threads already.

Meanwhile I have noticed that the manufacturer offers the plan of the guides in several formats, even in.skp! for each of it's guides.
So I could use that file for placing the holes exactly.

Working in chunks is your best approach to try an isolate what objects introduce the performance hit.

Your model is large in terms of scale with lots of reflective surfaces and internal voids to calculate light. It's probably a perfect storm where a realtime render engine like Lumion shows its weakness.

If it was me I'd be hitting up their support. A file like that should not bring it to its knees.

I'd give it a spin in Twinmotion to see what that does. Its 1/3 of the price and now that Epic owns it you get access to Megascans and other goodies too. Plus the Datasmith plugin for SketchUp is solid.

With SU now having tag folders the list of tags can be quite extensive in a large model.
Highlighting the tag of the component you have selected would be huge help and save A great deal of frustration.

No, but you have geometry thats <1mm in places. Scaling fixes it.

I'd say trial them all to find the one that ticks the most boxes.

Quantifier and ProfileBuilder are probably the most cost efficient and customisable. But you do need both to be the most productive.

PlusSpec doesn't have the same parametric abilities that ProfileBuilder does but automates others areas very cleverly. It does alot more than PB3/Q Pro though.

MeDeek I'm not too familar with. He does have a bevvy of tools to pick from.

There's FlexTools too. Its focus is Dynamic Components based responsive modelling so its very non-destructive.

En gros, les groupes et composants évitent que les dessins se soudent les uns aux autres, on peut les déplacer, les tourner, les copier très facilement. C'est comme des boites dans lesquelles on y a mis nos dessins.
La différence entre un groupe et un composant est que le composant lorsque tu l'ouvres pour le modifier, toutes ses copies se modifient en temps réel. Pratique pour une clôture. Par exemple, si on veut modifier la forme des panneaux, j'en modifie un seul et ma clôture est entièrement modifiée.

Sur MA CHAINEIl y a des playlists pour presque chaque outil (ils sont un peu ancien mais toujours d'actualité).
Tu as DES EXERCICES EXPLIQUÉS également.
Regarde celui sur LES COULEURS DE TRAIT, c'est pratique pour dessiner sur les plans.

Thanks for the info, I'm not sure, but I haven't done anything special to this mac. I think it's just the default. As far as I can tell, it is case insensitive.

Your profile says you are using SketchUp 2017 Make. You can count on that version not officially supporting newer Mac OS versions.

FWIW, since you are using SketchUp for your work you should not be using SketchUp Make, anyway. That's a violation of the EULA. You need to be using SketchUp Pro. As slbaumgartner wrote, many users have reported the current version of SketchUp Pro works. I would expect the next release will officially support Monterey.

What about installing SU Make (2016) on a new PC? IO want to build a new PC sometime in the next 6 months (assuming I can find the necessary parts) and my use of SU 2016 is essential to my hobby. Will a new install pass muster w/ Trimble?

Ah ha! Thanks, I'd seen something about the CTRL button while I was searching but I didn't realize it's a toggle.

For future reference there is a key combination that lets you grab any offscreen dialog and move it into view.
So with the focus on Preferences (in other words you have tried to open it and the machine is going bing) press alt and spacebar together, then tap m once (where m is move in your language, would be d in french for example) then tap any arrow key and without clicking move the mouse around until the Dialog appears on screen.
Once you have Preferences you can use the Reset Workspace button which should bring all dialogs back to the screen.
