Thanks for your replies. the TaffGoch way worked. I created a composant with the object of interest, then to rotate it, I hit the "modify the composant option" and voila, it worked. Thanks to all again

a Xeon doesn't help much (SU is not aware of), 8 kernels don't help much (SU is single threaded), a Quadro FX doesn't help much (SU uses OGL v1.5), 16GB RAM doesn't help much (SU is 32bit)... simply because SU is not taking advantage of it. the fastest i7 (in the sense of clock frequency) and a mid-range GeForce delivers the best bang for the buck, nothing else. Thanks to everyone. It seems not so easy to do, so I just keep on useing colors to create differences in the drawing. Ultimate I use autocad, but I would just like to keep it in the same drawing. I will have a look at Thicklines.rb. I simply don't like Layout, to slow and to complicated (a fundamental thing like updating views/layouts is a pain). What is possible inside Layout, should be a intern part of SU, like model- / paperspace in AutoCad. But thats a nother story I like the combination of SU and Indesign - but SU is a bit of a pain to print from, but I get hold of it now using PDF995 Thanks all. Jorgensen

Thanks so much Jakob. I guess I will have to content myself with that since I have been "fired" as a customer. Thank you all so very much for your help.

Yeah, been fiddling with that one. Which is the reason why I asked. I'll have to follow Steve's advice, I think.

Either this (View menu) or that (Toolbar - as Alan says) way. If you plan to use section planes/cuts a lot however, activate the toolbar from View > Toolbars so that you don't need to open the menu all the time.

Hi Daniel, Welcome the the forum. Coen has been telling me great things about you and Jim Leggitt and I look forward to have you guys as part of the community. I have a confession! I missed your presentation at 3D BC, I was probably at the 'leper colony' smoking cigarettes and chatting to other full-time residents and occasional visitors I look forward to seeing the presentation on You Tube, so would appreciate the heads up when available Mike

Sometimes you just simply cannot draw coplanar roof faces on certain buildings if they are not rectangular (or your roof ptch won't be at the same height). So also have a look at the plan of the building.

Pilou, if you mean the finished textures, the ones I posted are just a scaled down example. The original size of the finished textures were 1200x1200.

Jorgensen - generally speaking if you want a watermark (or line style) in an export to appear as you see it on screen, then a screen capture instead of an export might be the best way to go. That's what I do. Alternately, you could try exporting at the screen resolution or doing what the Google folk recommend if you are a SketchUp Pro user - inserting the model into LayOut and setting the resolution there as it offers more control. Regards, Ross

The DWG export uses exactly the same units you are using to model with. The units can be changed on the fly from the Window>Model Info>Units pane. No need to export, copy over etc. Your model and the "real world" stay in sync. Anssi
