Thanks Chris, I'm just experimenting to make movements less static (=follow different matematical rules other than straight lines). Along the way I should get more familiar with DC_syntax. The included dimensions aren't DC-features. Each of the four dimensions work with their own virtual intersection points on the axes. I posted about this weird behaviour (in SU6) way back, see: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=8315&p=49280&hilit=+virtual+intersection+#p49280 Fixing semy associated dimensions (so they will update again) was also in SU6. Probably already in SU5. Here they come in handy to see what (some of) the DC-values are doing. Looking forward to see what you come up with next! Wo3Dan

Yeah, thats a nice solution William. Is there a way to better design the options dialog box? Perhasp there would be some way with the html tags to make that a popup message or something that only shows up if its too large of a value. Maybe? Chris

Ah. I reset the component and now all the custom Attributes are gone. Thanks for clearing that up.

+1 I'd hate to think that the feature never gets added just to try and keep backwards compatibility. By time we get to verion 10, I think people will be more upset if DC's haven't been improved since v7.0 than if they don't have great backwards compatibility. Chris

Bruce, thank you. Actually, no sphere needed. I started off that leg with a 2D DWG file that was given. I copied the square sections off to one side. [image: dcef30d6.jpg] Deleted half the leg profile and the square sections. [image: d249ed36.jpg] Push/Pull the square sections. Extend the profile for the turned portion to create the pommel. Add a path for Follow Me. [image: 9cb12797.jpg] Run Follow Me. [image: e86c55f8.jpg] Move the square section into place. Run Intersect. [image: 08b79c29.jpg] Delete the waste. [image: b1bf7cae.jpg] To reduce the turned piece's file size as Eric mentioned, I rotated the 24 segment circular path for Follw Me 7.5° and then cut the circle in quarters cutting at the midpoint of edge segments rather than at the vertices. After running Follow Me on the turned parts, their edges were hidden. These were made into components and copied about the center. When all the components are placed together, the seam lines don't show as they would if the cut had been made along the vertices instead. [image: Leg_Experiment.jpg]

Thanks Gaieus. I never noticed the 'options' on the import dialogue box. I was assuming it would import using the default template settings. I can send the drawings off now with with no worries. Thanks again.

you may be able to reenable the thumbnil using nirsoft shellexview. its a tool for tweaking the windows shell. its a tiny file. download it, run it, and broswe to thubnails. you'll see the "sketchup shell extension class". if its disabled, you can enable it from there. hope that works out. cheers.

@raduzik said: Thank you for answer! But that is not exactly what I need. I am going to explain it again by help of picture which I hope realy helps....... ...... Rado, you asked for chain dimensions and that is what we gave you. What you are after isn't chain dimensioning at all. %(#0000FF)[For all dimensions you are after use the same reference point on the left, starting at o(zero), building up to the length overall.] To do this with Su's dimension tool is tricky. I mean to be able to have them nice looking on screen. The Text tool might help but for your convenience you then need to position your object with its reference point (zero) at the origin (temporarily though). The Text tool returns X,Y,Z and you still need to adjust the text which will not update when you make changes. The best option is to apply dimensions only for showing the value in text at the right spots. So just dimension-text that you can alter (alligned to/color/font/height etc.) (edit: file attached) Wo3Dan Chaindim.skp

Thanks for the reply pbacot. Yeah the drawing was bad; did not look like a gable end roof at all. I tried the ruby you mentioned; worked well. This is what I have so far; close but not exactly what I want. Appreciate your help. fossman [image: lIkN_Houseroof.jpg]

We haven't even had snow this winter but the sun is shining at the moment. I haven't even turned on heating yet (the adapter of the lappy is nicely warming my feet under the desk) So where are those icicles?
