Can someone tell me how they would go about creating a gable roof for this model.
Kind of like the drawing I've attached.

      TIA

Your image looks like a "hip" roof, not a gable roof, and here is a tutorial http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10940&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=roof+tutorial
For that tutorial you will first have to draw a roof plan. Not hard but you have to know a few things about roofs. There is much more to it depending on what you already know and how much detail you want.

There's many roof tutorials. Search under "roof tutorials" here, or on Google (search "SketchUp roof tutorials") where you'd find links to YouTube tutorials etc. for example: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6992494222771927212

Also there is a ruby called "roof.rb" at this site (Just scroll down the page.): http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/em_arc_page.htm

Works great for your basic shape, then you have to create the side roof independently and intersect the two.

And here's a hint, which took me a while to realize, you can enter angles for the protractor as pitch, for example 4:12.

          Thanks for the reply pbacot.
Yeah the drawing was bad; did not look like a gable end roof at all.
I tried the ruby you mentioned; worked well. This is what I have so far; close but not exactly what I want.
          Appreciate your help.
