V8.0 is released https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=2Dtools Or via the ExtensionStore dialog. It fixes a glitch with v2026 whereby some MAC users could not get the TAB key press/up to work to open dialogs in some tools, and some PC users had to press/up 4 times to make TAB work. But <=2025 users had no issues. I've now improved the onKeyUp methods to optimize TAB use in v2026, but it can still be flaky for some users. including me needing 4x press/up! So as an additional option I've added one press/up on the Shift key which will also open the dialogs, in certain tools like LineStyle and Hatching. The Help pages explain this dialog opening more fully. Please try and report back issues...

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Thank you Dave Thank you Gaieus Thank you Sonder I will not be rendering the scenes with an outside rendering application and I also want to keep the model dynamic for further design developemant so this leads me to using scenes in layout as you suggest. Thank you for other ideas also. Paul

I've got no excuse. I've been out clubbing with friends and the time change has thrown me. I'm trying to resist turning on my PC as I'll probably end up modelling all night. With my user name I was trying to mix up my real name with an interest with Egyptology, but only recently realised that it was a pretty common Japanese name. It seems to catch a lot of people out. When the haze has cleared, it would still be good to hear if you have any thoughts on the truangulation issue. Think of it as splitdonut in reverse.

Thank you so much Dave, I will try all you said since I do have to learn to do it by myself.

Using 123D Catch from autoCAD I was relatively pleased with the elephant which is fairly complex form so I thought I would test a simple case like a box for dimensional accuracy and I ended up with some surrealistic and cubistic, but not rectilinear results. I would love to sit down and wrestle this thing to the ground but I am moving down close to the Mexico border and also have an important photojob to do and need to sell the Phoenix house. When and if things slow down I will give this 123D thing another run.

They will both update the current scene-tab. However, in the dialog you can select more than one scene and update several aspects of them at once, and of course you can check/uncheck certain aspects so that only certain things are 'saved/remembered'. Usually each tab will save [remember] all of its settings like its camera etc. But in my 'Troubleshooting' tab only another style is invoked whilst the camera is not affected, so changing to that tab leaves the view unchanged but changes other aspects like line styles etc... Updating a tab should only be done after careful consideration, especially if it's linked into Layout...

Thank Roger and Gilles... I will check those things out soon. Both looks very interesting but the tools from Thomtom reminds me of Artcam. It turns a 2D Image to a 3D model. I think I've seen the demo in Youtube.

I'll keep looking in that section. I can't believe sometimes what a slow learner I can be... smoothed, hidden, texture scales, etc.. Thanks very much for your help. [image: f9EH_trees-5.JPG]

Hi everyone, Chiming in here from the SketchUp team: it's very likely that the licenses in question here are not valid. A few folks on the forum have already mentioned the not-for-resale clause of SketchUp's end-user license agreement; to clarify, we can arrange for the transfer of a valid license upon request. However, in this case, we can't validate that they are valid SketchUp Pro licenses in the first place. I'm not saying at all that helinbak's intentions are malicious (in fact, his posts on this thread prove that he isn't), but I do want to give everyone a heads-up for when they see licenses like this in the future. If anyone has questions about these licenses or how to transfer a valid license, please use contact the SketchUp Pro sales team here: http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/request.py?contact_type=sales Mark

@tig said: OR type 6.789m and the total dimension along that axis will become 6.789 meters, because you can input dimensions as well as scaling ratios... Another 'duh' for me.. (shakes head) I personally draw sketchy when designing even though i try to keep correct dimensions. After the concept is mainly done i redraw the project (or parts of it) to have a clear and correct drawing. If you have the correct dimensions, a drawing is quite quickly done, quicker than correcting a bad one. Anyway, to combine Peter's and TIG methods you could do it like this: [image: Emvj_Scalelines.jpg] Correct me, if i'm wrong. (if you know the distance you want to move the outer line it's easier to use just the move tool, but if you just know the overall distance, it would do the trick)

@brookefox said: Here I think the issue is that you don't hold ctrl down, just click it to engage the copy, then you can click a start point and input the distance. No, no, if that would be the case, the adjacent faces of these lines would be moved downwards as well. It happens to me quite often. I surely can say it's not the Ctrl key.. If i do the action described above and nothing happens, i can do it as often as i want to, it will just not do it- only by Ctrl+moving without typing the distance it snaps to the distance i typed in before (when it did not copy the lines). Maybe, as i assumed, it has to do with the same reason why SU does not cut faces even if it could / should / sometimes just doesn't.

the model is at 49.190966N,16.611552E so the UTC+1 time zone should be fine - the shadows appear correctly at rendertime, i just miss them in the preview. no other view mode (shaded/textured/monochrome...) brings them back. as for the toggle - as is seen on the screenshot, only the 'From Edges' option switches its state. EDIT: ha, i found the solution; see attached screenshot. thanks everyone for answers [image: 6xRI_SU-shadows-resolved.png]
