How to Lock A Scene

Can someone please tell me if it is possible to lock a scene in Sketchup 8 Pro. This is so I do not edit it by mistake and stuff up my layout references.

The 'Scene Manager' lets you set what is saved with [and therefore changes with] each Scene tab.
If you update a Scene tab it will take all of the current settings like the camera position - so only ever update after thinking about what it'll do.
However, if the Scene tab is set to have things like its camera saved [i.e. remembered] then if you are in a Scene and change the view clicking on its Scene tab will restore the remembered view as it was before.
There is no way to 'lock' a Scene tab and prevent future changes... BUT a tab is 'saved' [if its settings are right] and therefore easily recovered - the only way to mess up is to update the tab, which you need to do advisedly, but that'd be equivalent to unlocking it and saving the change anyway [IF locking were possible!]

Thanks TIG. What is the difference between updating a scene by right clicking on a scene tab along the top of the drawing area and updating a scene in the Scene palette.

They will both update the current scene-tab.
However, in the dialog you can select more than one scene and update several aspects of them at once, and of course you can check/uncheck certain aspects so that only certain things are 'saved/remembered'.
Usually each tab will save [remember] all of its settings like its camera etc.
But in my 'Troubleshooting' tab only another style is invoked whilst the camera is not affected, so changing to that tab leaves the view unchanged but changes other aspects like line styles etc...
Updating a tab should only be done after careful consideration, especially if it's linked into Layout...
