A very well thought-out work and important findings.... In rendering programs, I would like to have an option to automatically hide geometry outside the camera field of view or objects completely hidden by geometry in the foreground. This is especially useful for camera panning in motion simulations, etc., as the constellation of objects is constantly changing. Of course, this is not possible when objects outside the field of view are required for reflections or shadows.

Thanks Steve, nice to see you around. The projecting thing at the front is the steering column that I need to alter, a laser might be useful in traffic. When I say possibly too small I am talking about radiator air flow and a decent fuel tank. Thing is, as intended this whole vehicle is meant to tip the3 scales at about 600-650kg. The crumple zones are going to be aluminium honeycomb structures at the front and a similar item at the rear incorporating the cat/exhaust can. All of this is getting very tight in the structure so far attempted. However it keeps the brain, whats the word, clock thing.............

Thanks liam, and if your referring to the monolith excavation site on the moon , it;s on the to do list at some point. pbacot, The rock and dirt textures I got from the "Textures.com" site. The sky is a low res HDRI. I think I got that at "CG Skies". Also do my own bump and reflective maps for a lot of the stuff I use. The apes are just 2D cut outs.

I did a breakdown of the layers here. Maybe 118 layers in total grouped into 10 categories here. Used Thea for the reflection pass. I will be doing illustration breakdowns and tutorials with SketchUp at basecamp if I catch any of you there. JQL, HornOxx, Really appreciate your comments and input. Plan to mess about with this as time allows, it's good practice I think. HornOxx the background is part of the HDRI. Think the scene would look a little better with a cityscape view out the windows......

Just a quick aside, I am forever being told that when I go for darker shots, they should be brightly lit. Seems folk just do not understand.

My current machine is my Apple MBP running Windows10 in boot camp, it scores so badly in Lumion’s performance test that instead of warning me it apologised out of embarrassment It’ll be good enough to test Lumion though. Prior to me producing the above I’d never used Lumion 8 before so I’m quite pleased with what I managed to get done in 5ish hours sitting on my sofa at home whilst munching a pizza. I have had a couple of hours on Lumion 7.5 so I wasn’t a complete Lumion virgin The church model came out overblown simply because of the way I’d built it back in 2011, as it was an internal only model, I never gave the external walls/roof any thickness to keep the size down. Lumion doesn’t do double sided materials so it’s ignoring 99% of the surfaces that would normally block sunlight. I’m not bothered though as this it just a test, if it can handle that model on my MBP I’ll have no probs on a better machine. I’ve got 7 days to play with the demo so I’ll get more tests done and post anting I think is interesting here. Opps, forgot to mention rendering times, my MBP is an i7 with 16gb, it spat the above images out at 1920x1200 (I think) in about 3-5mins each, I think that’s damn fast to be honest, I also did a video of the house in HD res that it rendered in a similarly quick fashion.

This one will take some time as have my other complex ones. The one thing in my defense is that I try a harder and harder model each time. [image: 6Fpv_BrambahnDT33b.jpg]

Looks good, but I think there should be a little hint of halo on the objects from the incoming light through the window. Or not. It's one of those pictures that could go either way. Other than that, the interior looks good.

I have the same problem with my own website you see. My homepage shows small preview images of my projects and if you select one it takes you to that gallery, however the website does not compress the images and fetches the full size ones from my gallery so my landing page is over 18MB
