I guess the plugin should be working with SU 8. The toolbar opens with errors in all tools: "No definition "callRuby"", "No definition "get_settings"", "No definition "obtain_defaults"" They don't let me continue working with this plugin, regardless I answer YES or NO. Unfortunately, Ruby console is empty. I have rather put the files into correct folders. [image: u0pK_Beztytuu.png]

@einstein said: Great thanks, johnwmcc, for this plugin! Thanks for your appreciate comment. @einstein said: Did you consider designing a toolbar for it? I'm sure for many users it became one of the very basic tools in SU. Having it accessible on top of the screen would be nice Not sure I know how to do that, but will consider it when I have time (probably not for at least weeks) - I have several other higher priority projects on the go at the moment, leaving me little time to update this one.

How do you propose to determine the 'material' to be used for the [selected front-faces?] I think the simplest way is for the user to be required to pre-select the color they want to use by choosing a color in the Materials windows. Then run the script. A. The script would use the color chosen by the user and create new color by copying it and adding a custom suffix or prefix to the name so it could later be identified to assist in reverting all surfaces with that color, if desired, back to the default front face color. B. I would be happy to manually turn on monochrome style before running the script to assure the front faces are oriented properly, but I suppose if you want to build that in as feature when the script is run that would be up to you. C. Perhaps the Paint Bucket cursor would appear and the user could paint the selection or the script would just automatically apply the color to the pre-selection Is this tool used on a selection of components/groups, or more globally on all such 'containers ? The user would have to do a pre-selection of geometry (if there was nothing selected a message would occur to notify the user to make a selection and run the script again). The script would disregard components/sub-components found in a pre-selection. If inside an entity which contains subgroups, then a pre-selection of objects would still be required and pertain only to that pre-selection and its subgroups. D. Hopefully, the user could use Ctrl-Z to undo the changes immediately after the script has run. What about badly modeled geometry with textured back-faces etc ? They would not be considered. Note: Trimble Connect currently can not render texture or patterns with transparency either. As far as the logic for nested components goes I see why it would be very tricky. I'm thinking that I could get by with only the un-painted front faces within nested groups being affected. I not sure, now that I have read your posting, that we want to include the faces of nested components as it could have unexpected results. Perhaps that is something that could wait for later on and add in if really needed. For reverting the painted front faces back to the default front face color, could a script then search recursively for any geometry with the custom color name (mentioned above in Step "A.") and replace them with the default front face color? The user could then manually purge the custom color.

@einstein said: Does anyone know how to install and find Smustard's Camera Controls toolbar? The folder I downloaded contains RB files. I put the entire folder into SketchUp plugins folder but I'm not sure it's the proper way to do that. When I googled CameraControls, there appeared a thumbnail of a movie tutorial on smustard's webpage but I cannot open it. Do yourself a favor and do not install plugins in that manner anymore. Go the the .RB file, create a zip archive with it selected, rename .ZIP suffix to .RBZ

This is in 2020. [image: HdKR_Screenshot-3_13_20218_21_34PM.png] What are you expecting it to do that it doesn't? Keep in mind the author stopped updating it in 2013. It's unlikely that it'll get any updates but as far as I can see it doesn't need to be updated.

Used those. Did not obtain satisfactory results. That's why I was here asking the question I asked. ThruPaint works fine for some applications, but not all of them, and SketchUV has always been a nightmare to use. I admit I haven't tried Wrapr, bu then $. I guess what I should have asked was not so much about surfaces as about projecting to individual polygons, by those polygon's normals. As far as the blending of textures, it's possible, and it's been done, in TW Render's terrain tools. Unfortunately, that is only for top down elevation change applications with terrain / vegetation / ground cover. There's nothing else quite like 3d modeling and rendering to humble a person, just when they start feeling like they understand things

@pbacot said: I like the stored parameters, But I'd also save the sizes. I don't want to manually make a 3080 door everytime. It's not going to be in increments, it's always going to 3080. Windows might be in increments of 2", but really for most projects there are only a few window sizes and those are plugged in repeatedly. Window head parameter would be nice, where you don't have to line up the window head each time. Actually door head too, so you don't have to set to the floor level, it automatically goes in at the correct place in relation to the floor. That's why I wondered what the 2 point placement was about. I wouln't use a tool that way, given the chance. Layout should be able to snap opening centers from a floor plan layout overlay OR use SU guides or offset from the end of walls. I see there are two different design methods here. My initial use for this plugin was to provide windows and doors into the rough openings created by the Wall Plugin. As such the positioning of the opening is set by the wall plugin and not by this plugin or module. However, if you are using this plugin as stand alone then the ability to position the opening and set the RO size becomes important. Also the ability to cut holes in exsitin Two different uses. I will need to give this more thought.

PLusspec is still more expensive per year than Archicad and Vectorworks (and only has a fraction of their capabilities)---and if we decide not to renew, we have no software to work with. Sell us a station, then let us decide if we want to upgrade every year. If we don't, at least we have last year's model to continue working with (if it was a stable version). There are still users producing solid work with SKP 8, and I have last year's version (20) of Archicad which I can use, if I wish, for the next 20 years at no ongoing cost. I paid once for the licence. I own it. It is entirely my choice if I wish to upgrade to 21. In the face of your costing hi-jacks as a BIM puppy, your glowing mea-culpas are tiresome.

TIG, still getting problems here. On more complex production files, the routine ends up bogging down hard, prompting the option to abort the script. On "nested" layers geometry is butchered so that solids are not retained, only bringing in line segments. At least named components in layers do work. I am attaching a "simple complex" file that does work as far as finishing the routine, however, on a large scale file, the process bogs down to untenable, and I have yet to sit through a full cycle of the script running... Hi everyone, Is the script supposed to work with 'skp' extension too? I am on Skethup Make 17, *dae and *kmz are exporting correctly but is there any way to save a native skp file by layer? The console reports: X files exported by layer, as 'skp' altough there is nothing in the model folder. Thanks a lot for the help! Andrea

@mariocha said: To Mac users: Sierra & High Sierra. Finally tracked down that occasional (sometime often) SU 'Hang on quit' problem. (beachball & force quit) Occurs every time one of Fredo's configuration dialog is opened during a session. I've had problems primarily with SUClock. It not only hangs on quit, but it then has to be disabled manually before re-launching or it splats on launch. The problem has been intermittent, so I haven't noticed if it's related to opening the configuration window. I will check it out though. Thanks for the info. (will also update to the latest LibFredo, which will hopefully obviate the need to figure it out)
