I believe it's mostly because we just haven't gotten to it yet. As always, feel free to send in your feature requests, and we will add in whatever we have time for.

please contact support@chaosgroup.com about this issue. We would need more information in order to help. For example: the version of SketchUp, version of V-Ray for SketchUp you have installed, version of V-Ray for SketchUp you have a license for (double check you have the correct version installed for your license), Operating System, when did the issue first happen, what did you do just before this issue first occurred. Feel free to continue this thread, but I highly suggest you contact our support department also.

the presets will only effect settings that it needs to. It will not reset all settings back to defaults, or to whatever the preset settings are. Output resolution for example, will not be changed when using the exterior camera preset. Just make a backup or your options by saving them to a vropt file, or backup your whole scene. Then play around with the presets a little, and if you decide you would rather return to the settings you had, you can either load your backed up vropt, or you can load up your backup skp file.

did you check the download section of the Chaos Group website? There are materials available for download there, as well as the V-Ray Express installer that will load your material library up with a hefty bunch of materials as well.

You can save the image as png. Also, you have an "alpha chanel" in "VFB channels" tab, which I think is selected by default. If you're good in Photoshop, you can use the alpha channel as mask.

If any other amature is interested, I found clicking skylight reflection on and then adjusting the colour to be of great benefit! The colours in the scence are now not lightened up and I can´t see any reflection from the blue sky. Why "reflection on" would turn the reflection off is beyond me, but I´m still new at this and I´ve been wrong before

that error message is happening because SketchUp has used up all available memory that it is allowed to use. All versions of SketchUp prior to 2015 have been 32bit applications, which are limited to 4gb of memory. SketchUp 2015 is available as 64bit, and is capable of using a great deal more memory. I would suggest visiting our help page about 64bit workflow: http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY2SKETCHUP/64+Bit+Workflow I would also suggest upgrading to the latest version of both SketchUp and V-Ray for SketchUp, being able to utilize more than 4gb of ram while rendering is quite a big deal, especially for our users out there that have 16gb+ of ram in their workstations.

Yes. With vray 1.49, i never had problems with override materials. This problem appears only with the vray 2.00. I didn't download the Service Pack 3. I will do it. Hope that pack will fix this bug. Thanks for the info.

(not sure you really need to worry about this now that we have 64bit support though)

@ely862me said: What software do you have ? Photoshop can help you with both. There is a Diffuse Glow Filter which you can play with and also a Lens flare effect under the Render filter. And perhaps you want it done inside Vray, then, I am sorry for my misplaced answer. This is the first image retouched with those filters in photoshop. If you have a well formed eye you will make it way better. Thanks for the reply. I've never used the diffuse glow filter in PS, but I'll give it a shot. And yes, I was specifically referring to understanding how to adjust the Vray glare/bloom effects inside VfS. And imabzeous, thanks for the link. I'm not really sure what to take from those images, and all the accompanying text is in a language I don't know... I know how to turn the effects on, and how to alter the weight, size, etc. That much is apparent from the sliders. What I'm trying to figure out is how to control the source of the effects, to limit them to the brightest areas of the image, and to perhaps set what that threshold is myself, if possible. At the moment, I'm just working around this by saving the effects-heavy image and then raising color clarity in Adobe Camera Raw to cut down on the 'vaseline on the lens' appearance...

V-Ray is now compatible with SketchUp 2015 64bit, which should alleviate your large file crashes. Go grab the latest service release from the Chaos Group website, even if you aren't using 2015 yet, there are stability fixes that have been added.

No kidding. I became like 800% better at Sketchup and Vray after 3-4 questions. This forum is perfect for someone like me.
