Best is to keep it on automatic unless the model is very complex and LO is unresponsive. In that case, sometimes it's better to be able to control when it becomes unresponsive. (Just like automatic vs. manual saving in SU although of course, not that risky)

Well, I'm glad you got it sorted out while I was away. By now you should have added your new scale to the list so you won't need to do that again.

Why not save them as pdf. Open them in Acrobat Reader and print them to fit on 8 1/2 x 11. Jeff

Whoa. Thanks for reminding me about that. I sometimes change scene names to be shorter when I get a lot of them so I can keep them in view--I've had some bad repercussions in LO. Good to remember.

We made a decision long ago to keep a copy of the model inside the LayOut document in case you lost the link. Now you found the file? File->Document Setup->References, select the file. If it doesn't have the correct location to update, you can always help by clicking Relink, and find the location of the file. When you hit Unlink (not recommended) you are using only the file embedded in LayOut. b ps - if you unzip a LayOut file, you'll find your models in the ref/ directory of the unzipped file.

The problem is that if you hide the section cut, it will not cut at all. If you go to the styles settings and uncheck it, you can see. I have no idea if setting this from a plugin would make it behave differently.

Tank you Gjenio for your reply, But I thing I did not made myself very clear on that, It was the dimensions lines from Skechup that are always the same as the model itself. But I discovered that by changing yje profile value in SU does solve my problem Tank you again

Hi Matthew, The sketchy styles use raster image files for the edges and are very resolution dependent. I cannot explain it any better than Ross a couple of years ago when this whole forum started so I'd rather link to that post: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=968

I've got extensive Layout tutorials in my Sketchup Pro 8 training series here: http://www.vtc.com/products/Google-SketchUp-Pro-8-Tutorials.htm You'll find the beginning at the section titled "Layout Introduction" and running all the way to the end... I teach it going from the assumption the user has little to no familiarity with a page layout software and work my way up from there. I see you are still on V.6 so this may not fit your needs -- for older versions of Layout (which has changed quite a bit) these may help too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUJSepWhu_Y http://sites.google.com/site/3dbasecamp2008/all-sessions-2008/sketchup-and-layout-tips--tricks Best, Jason.

It really depends on the purpose of the document. A poster is usually meant to be viewed from far away, and I think that there are rules of thumb about the relation of the smallest font used to the overall size of the sheet. On the other hand, a technical drawing is meant for close scrutiny, so font sizes do not have to differ from normal office documents - it's more important to be able to cram in all the necessary information. And documents like architectural working drawing plans have lots of textual info like door tags that have to closely associated with a graphical object but must not cover it, so text styles for things like these tend to be rather small. Turn on File->Document Setup->Paper->Margins (check the box) and see in this case if your margins are clipping here. b
