    I have created a custom template that I no longer need and would like to delete, but I can't figure out how to do it. Windows "search" doesn't find anything when I search on the template name. There must be a way!

      Hi Jalsina,

      My templates (XP 32 bit) are stored here:
      C:\Documents and Settings\Csaba\Application Data\Google\Google SketchUp 8\LayOut\Templates
      (where " Csaba" is my username and my SU version is 8 so you need to change those as they should be different)

        Gaius:

        Thanks for your message. I am using Windows 7, and in my Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/LayOut file there is no Templates folder. In fact, there is no file on my entire system named templates. Must be a Sketchup 8 thing.

          No, it's the same for SU7/LO2, too. And it's not under the program files but the application data. Note that many folders are hidden there by default.

          By the way, they are not called "template" files but have a "normal" .layout extension.

            Gaius: Don't mean to be a PITA, but 1) I don't have any Documents and Settings folder on my machine, 2) I have listed all the .layout files on my machine, and the templates are not among them. I'm running a standard install of Windows 7 x64, and Folder Options is set to display all hidden files. I'm mystified. J

              Edit->Preferences...
              Folders
              Templates
              You should see a list of directories where templates are stored.

                application data was hidden on my computer. If you know the name of the file you can right click on start and run a search.

                  JHAUSWIRTH: Thanks, that worked. Found it!
                  SLIMDOG: Strangely, I do know the name, and Search doesn't find it. I have folder options set to display hidden files, too. Strange! Any insight here?

                    So where was it then? (I only have XP and that's where templates are stored on my machine)

                      In Windows 7 Professional the LayOut template default location is:

                      C:\ProgramData\Google\Google SketchUp 8\LayOut\templates
