I hate to throw another idea into the mix, especially as I don't have a specific way to do it in my head but, Could you link the data file to an image in sketchup itself so you can use it in a viewport in Layout. There are various plugins that can make links to external files and there may be something that works better for you. God knows if it would be any use, but it was a thought.

@yousefk88 said: For me i'm turning off edges in sketchup but they are showing again in layout, and couldnt find a style with there's no edges (out lines)...what to do? Perhaps you could share an example? You description isn't very clear. Make a LayOut file that shows what you are talking about and post it.

That is a good tip for folks new to SketchUp. I've found that, while it can be done, it is almost never a good idea to modify a scene in the LO viewport. Many changes that you might make to the SketchUp file will not show in viewports whose scenes are shown as "Modified" in the SketchUp inspector. I've never seen a crash of LO that I could attribute to a modified scene but then I don't get them in my LO projects.

Man you really need to use layers, there is little to learn. Sometimes though if I have several objects on the same layer and want to select something at the rear I just select the foreground object and push it to the back - select, move or edit the object you are after and pull the original object back to the front. Or just select the foreground object and hit CTRL+X (cut) then do the backgound object edits and after hit CTRL+V (paste). Unlike SU - Layout pastes object back in the original position. I actually do exactly this for moving stuff from layer to layer - cut > select destination layer > paste - bloody simple!

What "plugin option" in LayOut? Currently LayOut has no provisions for plugins as SketchUp does and there's no Plugins menu if that's what you're referring to.

Thank Dave R, Your suggestion was quite helpful. I imported floor plans from autocad of massive structure which was highly detailed and when i inserted it into LO I used hybrid render. There were 3 floor levels each on a seperate page. I just left it and after hours of waiting each page opened eventually and I changed the render setting..Now I'm able to flick through my pages with no problems....Thanks alot and sorry for taking long to reply

Unfortunately there's no list of upcoming features - we're not even supposed to hint about them. Believe me, I'd love to reply to request threads like this with more specific information.

No need to be embarrassed. There are a lot of things that might not be obvious at first. Do spend some time poking around in menus and sub menus as well as the windows in the tray on the right side. You'll find there's a lot of options. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

I know this will sound strange but go into the presences window in SketchUp and chane the OpenGL settings. Try turning Hardware accretion off. Quit and reopen LayOut. Then rerender the viewport and see if it fixes the problem.

Interesting topic! I prefer to use layout only for adding texts and annotations. Everything else, including hatches and dimensions, is done in SketchUp. SketchUp is more fast, more reliable, more fun and the 3d model can be opened by the client as well. Some elements are only modeled in 3d as a simple volume and it's details are added in 2d in the sectioncut (ventilation duct, a timber framed wall). Plugins that make the process more easy are: ProfileBuilder by Whaat SectionCutface by TIG 2dBoolean by Jolran [image: WSek_section.jpg] [image: 7odS_model.jpg]

@dave r said: If in LO, you can probably just resize the text to a new point size although you might need to adjust text box sizes. Dimensions might need to be moved relative to the model, too[/b][/b][/b]. That's what i was trying to skip. Thank's anyway
