Have you looked at the SketchUp model and the LO project on a different screen? It could be the screen you're working on is set such that it is skewing the way things making them appear brighter than they really are. Without seeing what you're seeing, it's difficult to tell for sure.

You can't select a different template for specific pages but you could open a second LayOut project using your other template and copy the content from one project page to the other project. Keep in mind that when you paste the content into the project, all of it will be placed on the active layer for that project. If your template file has content on multiple layers, you'll either compress it all to a single layer when pasting or you'll have to copy and paste content one layer at a time. An alternative would be to just make two separate LO files, one for the front page and one for the other pages and combine them in Acrobat or some other PDF editor.

Good on you to get it sorted. I have some templates that tend to get updated annually. I wind up opening the template directly from LayOut. Then I make the required changes and save it as a new template with the year in the template name. Helps me know I've got all of them updated. then I go through the folder and delete the unneeded ones.

I am also experiencing this problem working in SketchUp/Layout 2014. I have tried changing the OpenGL setting and it has not solved the issue. I am on a Mac, so I can't update my GPU driver short of upgrading my operating system. One thing I noticed is that I seem to consistently experience this problem when working in files that I originally created in SketchUp 2013 (last year). I have not seen this happen with files originally created in SketchUp 2014 imported into Layout 2014. Here are two example screenshots of the problem. Try exporting a PDF and print that instead. You can set up margins in Document SetUp to suit what your printer is capable of dealing with.

A sign printed that large will certainly not be at 300dpi (the machine would never spool the print). I know my sign guys work at artwork supplied at 1/5th or 1/10th printed size. If you can export a vector as PDF the size of the artwork will make no difference as long as it is proportionately correct. The bigger issue you will have is that most artwork will be required as CYMK not RGB. Conversion to CYMK will need to be done post export.

My suggestion, trace the floor plan in layout and get a really nice crisp presentation. Will take half the time of mucking around and you wont get all the nightmare lines that result from exploding the vectored SU model. In fact I do all plans in Layout and then model up in SU!

I think I figured it out. Originally I had the section planes withing a group and now that I have placed new section planes I did them outside the group.

Dynamic sheet index (which might be exploded for custom editing and formatting.) Good idea!

Does the scene name for the viewport in LO show as modified? Could you post an example LO file that shows this? No need to post the SKP file, too.

Frankly, I'm disappointed in the dimensioning quality of Layout. Sketchup, well, I can understand dimensions might be limited there. But Layout. Heck, that's its name! Next to 'layout' for technical drawings are dimensions and the inability to do basic rad/dia dimensioning is pitiful.
