Good news; I just realised that SU 7.1 fixed this problem. You get so used to seeing something that occasionally it takes a nudge to notice it has changed.... It makes for a nice improvement in my house plans, so thanks SketchUpGuys!

Mac users (as I have just learnt) have often used the VCB by highlighting it (clicking into it or using the tab to give focus). Now with version 7.1, do not do it. With a rectangle for instance, just start drawing > type the values (into the "thin air") > hit Return/Enter.

Hi frv, Is that part not grouped or inside a component by any chance? In this case, maybe that material is applied on group/component level. Try to paint the group/component also with the default material (this shouldn't affect any materials applied to the faces directly "inside").

There is a maintenance release on the way as I heard and hopefully most of the issues will be addressed there. I can't see many of what you list here however.

Got a screenshot list of your plugins folder?

Turning off hardware acceleration should do the trick, just as Barry suggests. I've found the following page from Apple really useful to see if a particular graphics card provides the necessary OpenGL 1.5 compliance that SketchUp requires: http://developer.apple.com/graphicsimaging/opengl/capabilities/index.html Since you're running OS X 10.5, it looks like the GMA950 only supports OpenGL version 1.2. On OS X 10.6, is supports OpenGL 1.4, which is better but not quite there.

Hi David, It sounds like you're running into this issue: http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=162724 In SketchUp 7.1, there's a known issue where SketchUp will ignore input to the Measurements box when you click or tab into the box prior to typing. Cheers!

Thanks Aerilius I forgot I had maximum textures turned on and was using a 9MP image so that is probably the issue but I will check it soon and let you know. Great advice, thanks

Could you fix the problem? You can define the number of segments the first time you use the Pipe tool. The new release on http://www.3skeng.com has a settings menue with the possiblility to define the number of segments. Regards, Sebastian

hi&thanks for this great patch! i got pretty frustrated to see that my old p4 pc running sketchup on winxp easily outperforms my macbook due to the mentioned freezes... disabling fast feedback only did not help. if i disable hw acceleration, the freezes vanish. but of course you get visibly better performance using the patch. I got Win7 and a nVidia 8800GT card - works great. Smooth as anything. Pretty sure it's a hardware/driver issue.

Ok Im an idoit I didnt turn off AVG and Win fire wall. After that it downloaded fine.

Hi Tamás, I don't use Win 7 but what I'd suspect, maybe your memory is not too much either. I know that Vista is rather memory hungry and though Win 7 is said to be a smoother OS, I doubt that they have tweaked it too much in the direction of using less RAM. What Remus says - autosaving - sounds reasonable and maybe some more memory would help with this issue.
