Ta folks, it is the ai thing.

My design, mea culpa. Similar in concept to the hotrod I did some yonks ago but oriented towards track days.

Working on a studio setup for Rayscaper so hopefully some renders then.

Bytor- Thank you- Yes, the city light and how to show it can/is a big issue. Sometimes it ends up looking more like a daytime scene...

Solo- Thank you- SketchUp + FormFonts makes it easy(ish) to add those kind of details which push your output to a more tangible level for clients.

Gaieus- oops, I thought this was your doing... Well, thank you for administrating it!

I have to say- I really don't know much about rendering, it really is Kerkythea... I have been using it for quite a while and one of things I hopefully was able to help with, was telling all of the physics nerds (I say that with love...) that unless an architect nob, like myself can use this easily, we won't use it. The interface of Kerkythea has really come a long way and combine the plug-in SU2K- Literally, you can export you .skp to KT and hit render and get something you would show a client.

Thanks again for the warm welcome, I look forward to learn and share with everyone here...

Its not a bad start but I think the texturing could do with a little work and some modelling tweaks:

It looks like you are using QMC and Light cache as you render engines. I'd recommend switching the primary engine to Irradiance map. It also looks like you arent making use of the SketchUp sun so make sure you are happy with how the shadows appear in SketchUp and then turn them off, go to the vray options and global switches. Turn on Default lights and ensure that your environment and background maps are set to sky. Make sure you are also using the physical camera and try using the following settings.

    Shutter Speed=125 F-Stop=12 Iso=200

i changed this in my settings and this is the result ๐Ÿ˜ฎ .
thx for the info, if you have more of these tips and willing to share them, please do!
    thx man!

    Hi
I'm building a one station witch is much more detailed than those of mine. Like with tracks, trains and so on. I'd like to know a good tutorial of rendering images. That's still kind of new to me so I'd like to get it started. I am still continuing this project as well. Thank you.

kerkythea (free) and podium (paid but not too much) are probably the easiest rendering applications around. i do not know of any good and complete tutorial for any of them. you will have to go to their forums to get more information.

Welcome - this is something I've already learnt in these forums - just thought the answer is faster this way than starting to find the original thread.

Hi Darren, glad to see you are posting on here now since the death of the old SU forums ๐Ÿ˜„. I'm not really much of a fan of water colours either digital or manually painted tbh and there are far more qualified opinions in this area here than mine but my ยฃ0.02 worth would be to try outputing without using the tiled SU grass and build it up manually in PS perhaps with the addition of some grass blades/weed at the intersection of the stone wall. At the moment its just too 'clean' and needs a bit of saturation variation in the tones for me to feel as though it is a watercolour.

Oops, somehow I missed the updates on this. Great work!

One thing I would tweak - put a soft blur on the tree line across the lake. Not a lot, but some. If you take a look at the fidelity of the detail on the rooftop and check it with the tree line, you'll see what I'm talking about. It looks like the background is more in focus than the house.

Looking good! When do I get to move in?

    Rocking Remus,

Space is always good, so Jack bird bring that action.

You clearly know all about the meat puppets, and their dark intentions.

Our technologies are so utterly feeble... it's such a joke -- they will have their way with us in the end.

    Hope?

Yeah, I drink a few tall boys and hope springs back into focus.

I've warned about the pending interplanetary attack of the Grays back in the day, on the old sketch up site, and of corse often over on the AT boards many times (I've taken out those adds out on the local coupon rag), and yet my words seem to continuously fall on deaf ears (as we are all busy with our personal lives, making crap, and eating).

This being the case, the truth is, without an honest dialog about prevention, we are doomed.

Dig deep into your closets, basements, and garages, and harvest up all the old pornography you have stashed away, and have it at the ready for further instruction.

Fill the liquor cabinets and be on the alert.

    lapx,
here's a few of the pieces and parts I used to compile the new image (copied from the original or a subsequent generations). The two main buildings were massed from the original, one with the center section cut out, the other with a center added in the other direction. The details were either built from stuff similar to the "bridge" pieces shown, or painted with the clone brush...lots of touchup after all was in place. The fence I did with photomatch in SU because vector drawing in PSP would have taken me a lot longer...only had to fudge the wierd perspective once in SU.

The fence was brought into PSP in three layers (cut behind the rest where appropriate): the shadows burned, the fence multiplied, and the posts normal but transparent...then again lots of touchup.

    That help? Best, Tom.

๐Ÿ˜„ You're a great artist Tom, the colours are very easy on the eye. It looks like a very large project, can you tell us more about it? At first glance your 'wharf theme' with the fountain looks a bit like a sewage outlet marker bouy with bell ๐Ÿ’š Then again you may have a different system of beacon and bouyage in your neck of the woods. The degree of list on it shows that there is a fairly strong current in that area. Can you tell us where it will be situated if approved? Thanks for sharing Tom, I think this is the place to be to see different achitecturel ideas from other parts of the globe.
    Thanks Tom,
    Bill.

The texture on that flashy green wall (bump map as well) needs scaling down.
    Otherwise a really good render.
