Daniel, thanks for coment....well, I think I'm frustrated because it seems that I can't make any progress, regarding the rendering, and I'm stuck with this kind of quality. I don't have the free time how I used to have.....should I blame my wife for that? Cheers, Stefan

Jason, I am really interested in participating with you and your group. I can't get to my files until later this evening, but have a number of projects using sketchup (I posted some of them on the old forum, but don't know how to access the archived files.) I will find and will post some that show potential for old buildings, design renderings and finished building photos. My home town has a formal fascade restoration program with matching grants of up to $25K per building for fixing the fronts up. Not a lot of money but it really broke the ice. This fascade program never went anywhere until the cash came up. Now the whole town square is getting involved. Very infectious. Next week I will be meeting with the council president of a nearby town to help them set up a similar program for their downtown strip. They want to get peoples energy up and photos with some photomatched SU sketches can help (along with a boat load of money of course). Having a historic district helps. I know Jacksonville has a very active historic society, have you talked with them at all??

I still have a lot more to do to the interior of this house.....hope i finish before any work comes in again P.S. the black line inside the TUB.... i noticed that after rendering, so i fixed it, but didn't have time to re-render the image. ...is this an omen?... Hmmm not, or at least I don't mean to ! The first picture of this serie was something like ' fallen eams'... but it did not occupied the space enough efficiently, so I switch to a more iconic (and quite bigger!)object. [image: BENs_WiP138.jpg]

Hey Kev, cool render, I missed this post, I guess the title made me think it had something to do with the SCF website and me not interested in anything HTML I must have breezed over it. I too entered the competition, and sadly never even ranked up there I really enjoyed Irender too and sadly my trial came to an end, who knows if my ship ever comes in some day I may get it again.

Thank you very much Csaba. That really means alot to me. I guess the sketchy styles can get to be a little too much but I like the hand drawn look better than the plain old SketchUp style.

Aidus, Exactly. I pretty much start from an Autocad drawing and refine it to use in Sketchup. The dwg had all the lines in there already except for the yellow road lines in the foreground which I added myself based on existing conditions (if you haven't met the maps.live.com Bird's Eye view yet, it's a WONDERFUL tool to find out existing conditions). For the texture I just use the asphalt texture and adjust the color to yellow or white. Normally I just stick to white as yellow (or blue in the case of handicap symbols) can get distracting, but in this case I think the yellow works. -Brodie

LightUp is still early in development but already IMO one can produce nice images and have quite good animations and panoramas with very little effort. Also you can export now your models to game engines such as Unity. Adam is planning a lot of new stuff in a future. IOR , Caustics and colour bleed are all planned in new material editor to come. As it stands you can still do a lot of stuff amongst other you can simulate volumetric lights, you can animate textures, you can use DC to animate objects etc. Also AO is much more improved with 1.5 and you can now control the strength.

@roger said: Is your laser rangefinder a Bosch unit? I really want one. Yup, A Bosch PLR 30. Not the latest model but does what I need it for and it was also on sale Well, as for the cobbles in that particular street; they run in all directions but at right angles. As (I think) I said above, I have the city plan in dwg and I certainly find it much easier to model from that file (plus the vertical measurements with the Bosch unit) than with PM. However I do realise its potentials (have you seen what Olishea posted - again?) just not for this particular task.
