Funny! All that ravage about 64bit and now someone asking about 32bit sketchup... Maybe the question here is that sketchup 2015 isn't compatible with vista?

SketchUp always opens a new model using your default Template. Check the name of your default with Preferences. Simply open a new model and change it as you want, then use the File ? Save as Template option. Any new models will start using that updated Template. Incidentally you can customize any model option relating to the 'default' used in the Template... For example you do not need any preloaded component, unless you want it. You can also set up your model's Units, Text and Dimension options etc. If the Template contains a set of commonly used Layers or Materials or Styles they come in as well...

You don't really need a dedicated plugin for this - solid tools and joint push pull's follow extrusion will do you fine (and the follow extrusion is a little overkill, honestly, it can be done with vanilla sketchup just fine) [image: EfSuUju.gif] edit: excuse the buggy gif, at least it's still decipherable I suppose

I also import models available in both FBX and OBJ format with SimLab... SimLap does a great job, but you will need to cleanup the models to reduce the size and make them usable in many cases... You can benefit by installing the CleanUp plugin by Thomthom... Please note that some models will take very long time to cleanup... (by very long time, I mean 3-4 hours! The plugin will estimate how long time it takes to cleanup a model, however, these estimates are usually never correct... Models are usually cleaned up a lot quicker then what the plugin have estimated... Hope this can help you further...!?

@JQL: That would seem like a viable solution, however it would cut into the next rooms. If sketch-up had a camera section clipping function on the other-hand it would be a solution. @Frederik: Perspective view is shown to demonstrate in 3D our design to contractors and help visually. We want to show depth, as there is no ambient occlusion lighting...so edges become our only reference. Perhaps this is a better example. A closet space about 5'6"x 7' you can imagine the space is fairly rectangular. So when trying to show all four facades with adjacent walls we can see the problem of editing the Field of view. Shown in Views E and W, increased Field of view to about 100-110. I suppose in real life this would be your only options. To increase camera wide angle or in sketchup "field of view"... Which is okay except you see the distorion of adjacent walls is uneven visually creating confusion to the size of the closet space... If I keep to one field of view then I would not be able to see the bottom of the walls for views E and W. Any ideas? [image: p2HL_Betterexample.jpg]

What Box said! Arrow keys are your friend. I bend some crazy stuff with Shape Bender, the only thing you need to keep in mind if your model is complex , scale it WAY BIG or you'll blow the mesh full of little holes....

Thank you all for your input on this. I am aware of the problems caused by not being absolutely precise in making sure lines do meet at a point and not just sort of at a point. Hours spent finding where the offending point was. This raises another query but I will start another thread as it is not related to this. Thanks again

Battery life is not really a concern, pilou, I've been carrying an old laptop with a dead battery for years now. I often travel to visit clients, I live in a country area and sometimes I do like to stop at a cafe and make some edits. Usually I'd be working at home on a workstation computer. I know its a small screen but that would be tolerable for a short session here and there, Kaas. I wonder if a surface pro 3 can load a house sized model for example and switch back and forth to Layout.

oh yes this is really important. i think google map is only an orientation. you could switch in the time line back and look is your house exactly on the same location or not. i dont know, could be for sketchup exist a plugin for inserting exact cordinates from GPS. when you will realy work exact, i think you need a very exact GPS and compass. here a link to an exact GPS (1 inch) http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2013-08/global-positioning-down-inches
