There are a few ways to do this, I would draw the building separately temporarily making the 'basement' deeper than necessary, group it, then move it into position and Right click -> "Intersect with model". Another way is to model the building and use the sandbox Stamp tool to stamp the building footprint into the terrain.[/quote] Thanks! I'll give it a shot.

@arklandesign said: The trees on Page 8 is from Formfonts named "gentle tree". That is exactly what i was looking for. To be specific it was "generic tree 7". Thank you all for the input though, this has been the fastest a forum like this has ever turned around an answer for me. Actually many helpful answers. Thanks again.

I didn't see any performance benefit in assigning SU to one core (the test model still degraded when orbited at the same level of complexity whether SU was assigned to one core or not) which is disappointing - with turbo mode on there is supposed to be a 75% increase in processing power on one core in this machine.

There is some kind of "tolerance" in SU when first something seems to be on axis but later it turns out that it is not the case. There are endless discussions about such seemingly minor issues but eventually they can become really bothering. In the below file, there is a rectangle of 10m x 10m, edges set to display by axis. All is fine, the edges are red and green and if you PP the rectangle, the verticals will be blue, too despite one corner being just 0,05 mm higher than the others. There is not even an autofold line so SU definitely "adjusts" itself to such small differences. I have to say that these "games" ar most popular on the Beta Forums and SU has been working this way ever since I can remember but we "refresh" these topics every time there is a new version. Nilblo, never mind the critiques; these extreme, little things are that make discovering SU the most exciting thing (and also, plese, guys, be a bit more tolerant with others especially here in the Newbie Forum).

Hi John, Rich is right, SU scenes will not get correctly exported so you have to adjust them in GE. Just navigate to where you think it's all right, right click on the "scene" link in the sidebar and "Snapshot view" (or something like that). The original camera position will now be changed in GE.

Thanks, everyone for your reply. One more question I'm new in Piranesi, do any of you know how to set up a drawing, the book I have isn't that great. Especially when I want to insert people, objects. Sometime they scale up and down and other times they don't. Plus the book always works in meters.

Thank you for all the helpful answers. I ended up working in LO. Used the pencil tool to draw over the section and filled it in. It's also possible to duplicate the page, render it with vectors then explode the rendering. After that, it's a matter of deleting lines, joining lines and adding fill. A little awkward, but ~~doable, more or less. But if you decide to alter the view... For some reason, moving the filled section away from the plane in SU didn't work when I tried it the first time, but maybe my tinfoil cap needs a new battery. Or antenna. @unknownuser said: @unknownuser said: I'm not a newbie, but I am a moron - and the forum doesn't seem to have a "Moron's Corner" - I've tried to start one. It keeps getting pulled. Mostly cuz I was the only one posting. Well, maybe it's better this way. Morons and genuises can learn from each other. Or something. @pmiller said: Or, if you are careful about consistent inside face orientation (as you should be), just make a style in SU where the inside faces are black. Voila, your section cuts will appear solid black, not hollow. OK, so that's brilliant. Waaaay, waaaaay too simple. @jean lemire said: Hi folks. Another possibility is to use a real cutting surface. Yes, that works, but again, locating the section plane is critical. Anyway, these are good suggestions for future work. Thank you all again! EJE

When I first started using sketchup I was working in ADT, I found that I couldn't import that type of drawing into sketchup, but I did find out if I worked in the standard autocad, i.e. say release 2004 it would important and I had no problems after that.

Adobe Acrobat will let you print pages as large as 15,000,000 inches by 15,000,000 inches if you can make it work. I have not found out why my Windows 7-64/Acrobat Pro 9(CS5) combination refuses to print larger than 1 x 1,9 meters - at work with Windows XP and the Standard version I have no such problems, but I seem to remember that XP needed a hotfix to enable large print sizes. @tig said: When you export to fbx [or several other formats like obj] there's an 'Options' button bottom-right of the dialog... that has "export-double-sided-faces" as an option to 'tick' - isn't that what you really want to do ??? facepalm I remember seeing the options button once or twice but each time I focused on something else. Worked perfectly, thank you and sorry for the trouble

Hi Lynn, This definitely sounds like some video subsystem issue. What video card do you have? (Hope not some Intel integrated chipset...) To test this out, go to your Window menu in SU > Preferences > OpenGL settings and disable hardware acceleration. If this "seems" to help, you should either update your video driver or if you do not have a decent, fully OpanGL compliant card, get one. In older SU versions, there was a "Correct reverse picking driver bug" option there, two, which couldbe good for your second issue but that was for some old (nowadays rare) video cards.
