@ramdelgp: quoted "as you can see i dont know how to do the push pull to make the separation for the wood table.." What do you mean by "separation for the wood table"? The table I see is/could be a separate component modeled, then placed in the scene. You show a closeup of the ceiling plank joints. Are you wondering how to round off the edges of the planks? If so, I would suggest to take one plank profile, round off the two edges to be exposed, copy the entire contoured edge of roof and walls, do a select and follow me on the profile. Then make this a component and multicopy this by Move+Control xtimes along the ground level horizontal at the specified distances. I probably did not understand your intent.

Wow, what fantastic replies! I can't thank you all enough for the info. I'd never even heard of Vray before, but I like the idea of checking several different versions out. (I'd never heard of photosculpt either, but that is just plain wicked cool.) Unfortunately, my laptop is definitely NOT built for fast rendering-I had no idea I'd get into this when I bought it-but I guess that's why you can leave it on overnight. Right now, just based on replies, I'm leaning towards Twilight. That museum is exactly what I had in mind for my model. But I'll try a few of them and see what works best. Again, thanks so much!

I would suggest looking through house plan websites and then e-mailing the designer and asking for permission to build the house in 3D.

@tig said: @hardimeybaum said: This assumes that this is not a 'commercial' tool - if it is, then consider Option 1 with perhaps a promise of a free-license for helpers once it goes 'public' ?? Thanks for great advice. The plugin isn't commercial in traditional way. We don't plan to sell licenses but we plan to get orders from sketchup users. We have CAD engineering services marketplace and we connect professional engineers to the one with engineering need. We are thinking of following use cases: sketchup user have modeled smth with sketchup and needs professional 3D model, technical drawings, renderings .. They can press button in sketchup and the order will be send to ww.grabcad.com where engineers will do the order.

Now your card seems to be quite capable of handling the OpenGL needs of SU but probably the driver is not up-to-date. Try to update it and turn HW acceleration back on. Without it, SU does everything based on the software and CPU while with it, textures, shadows and whatnot can be rendered by the video system thus freeing some resources of the CPU to work on the geometry. Of course, with very simple models you would not experience too much difference but as model complexity increases and more and more (especially higher resolution) materials you use, it can slow down significantly without video support.

Thanks, i want this mainly for the plugins added to the menus as some of the tools i use most don't have buttons. Looking at the code quickly it seems built for the default tools but still very useful and hopefully i can adjust it to work with plugins also by adding new code and icons to the folders it has. Many thanks

Hi folks. You can also use a Zoom Window to get real fast close to the cable end. You can also make a scene showing all cables and their surrounding. You do this only once. Then, clicking on this scene's tab would quickly get you to the big picture. Of course, you can also use the Move Tool to stretch a cable after grabbing its end. Just ideas.

Unfortunately the Follow me tool - unlike the PushPull tool - explodes polylines (any kind of curves). So indeed, the weld plugin is always good to be at hand.

Hi Kerry, It's me "again" (from this topic). Well, if the model was several kms away, moving it to the origin was definitely a good idea (for several but not necessarily related reasons). However I am still not wiser about the issue itself. Would there be any chance to share the model itself?

I've seen priced downloads of Google Earth (free version otherwise) on certain websites, too. Look at the official GE Help Forums - they are full of these scams. Then in certain countries it is a common practice to sell cracked versions of software. We have banned some members for this here already (no names/names mentioned - and of course, this is not threatening...)

Hi folks. Keep in mind that, for components, axes position is very important. You can reset these if they are not correctly positionned. Right click on an already made component and choose "Change axes" in the contextual menu The cutting plane used by a component is the one defined by its red and green axes. The cutting plane will also be positionned at the origin of the components axes. The easiest way to make a component is to draw it on an existing face, whatever its orientation. If done correctly, the cutting plane and axes will al be correctly placed and oriented. SU will even propose the automatic face cutting option. See attached SU file for ideas. Component making.skp

In the import window dialog there is an options button. Set the units of the DXF/DWG there - e.g. feet, before importing...

Model your own house, if it is a house you live in. Easy access for dimensions! That's what I did when I started out.
