      Hi,

we are planning to build a sketchup plugin, but before execution would like to get some feedback from users before execution.

      What forum topic to use?

        You have three main options:

        1. Send Private Messages to some of the selected scripters who regularly post in the Developers' Forum [Thomthom, TIG, Chris Fullmer et al] and ask for their assistance in beta-testing with a brief description of what's involved - that's discreet and away from the public until it's 'safe'. If they accept then PM the script as an attachment and agree some sort of program. [Note that some established scripter-moderators developing a new script concept have occasionally asked Gaieus to make a new 'hidden forum' just for downlaods and issues around beta-testing that one script, with a select list of users then invited to join that forum and participate in its evolution - I don't think you are there yet!]
        2. Post in the Developers' Forum as '[Beta] MyPlugin for Testing' or whatever and ask for feedback before it's published.
        3. Post in the Plugins Forum as '[Plugin] MyPlugin - Beta v 0.1' or whatever and in the first post explain that it's 'beta' and might mess up and how to install/use it etc - as you update it you should overwrite the original script in the first post - or at least make it quite clear which is the most current to download in that post [also re-title the first post too] and then in a new post in the same thread you announce its update with a link back to it. That way any one interested is told of the change and it's kept meat and tidy...

This assumes that this is not a 'commercial' tool - if it is, then consider Option 1 with perhaps a promise of a free-license for helpers once it goes 'public' ??

Thanks for great advice. The plugin isn't commercial in traditional way. We don't plan to sell licenses but we plan to get orders from sketchup users. We have CAD engineering services marketplace and we connect professional engineers to the one with engineering need.

We are thinking of following use cases: sketchup user have modeled smth with sketchup and needs professional 3D model, technical drawings, renderings .. They can press button in sketchup and the order will be send to ww.grabcad.com where engineers will do the order.
