Plugins - From menu to button?

Hi,
I was just wondering as i have seen some plugins use a toolbar, is there a simple code snippet/method i can use to turn menu items into buttons i can have on the GUI instead?
I am not new to coding but i don't know much ruby code yet so any help would be great, thanks.

There is Jim's custom toolbars plugin but it will not make every menu item available as icons (quite a lot however). Also it is handy as you may be using shortcut keys for certain operations and then you do not need those buttons (and in the default toolbars they just occupy real estate).
I have put all tool icons I needed/could into a single toolbar - the rest is plugins and a couple of tools that cannot be integrated with the toolbar. See the table posted in Jim's blog what tools can be integrated.

Thanks, i want this mainly for the plugins added to the menus as some of the tools i use most don't have buttons. Looking at the code quickly it seems built for the default tools but still very useful and hopefully i can adjust it to work with plugins also by adding new code and icons to the folders it has.
