I have this annoying problem. My sketchup completely freezes every 5 mins or after 10 - 15 clicks of the mouse. It freezes for about 15 seconds then comes back. At first i thought it was autosaving but i changed that setting to save every 20 mins and it still freezes. It doesn't do this when first opening the program but after 30 mins or so of drawing it starts to do this. And the things that im working on most of the time aren't that advanced or complex. I was just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem or knows how to fix it?

        Hi Mike (and welcome),

What video card do you have? What happens if you disable hardware acceleration under Window > preferences > opengl settings?

Thanks for the such quick response. That seem to have work. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I have a NVIDIA Quadro FX 550. I'm just wondering, what does check that off change or do to the model?

Now your card seems to be quite capable of handling the OpenGL needs of SU but probably the driver is not up-to-date. Try to update it and turn HW acceleration back on.

Without it, SU does everything based on the software and CPU while with it, textures, shadows and whatnot can be rendered by the video system thus freeing some resources of the CPU to work on the geometry.

Of course, with very simple models you would not experience too much difference but as model complexity increases and more and more (especially higher resolution) materials you use, it can slow down significantly without video support.
