Mac Sketchup 8 Toobars...

Evening all,
I'm a lonnnnng time SketchUp user, version 5 was where I started. I've always used it on a PC but I've recently got a macbook and I'm having a few teething problems.
Basically, what is with the toolbars on the mac version? It seems I can't get rid of the top horizontal toolbar?
It seems a lot more clunky in this respect than the pc version.
I've had a look about and can't find anyone discussing this.

that's an OS X toolbar.. not a SU one.
i like to use it with sketchup because you can add a single icon from a ruby that has many icons or, it's a good place to put certain single icon rubies..anyway, if you want to close it, click the little pill shaped button at the top-right of the window.
